15/06/2026: LES FRANGINS: A hidden gem in the Gobelins district! We had the pleasure of celebrating a double birthday at Les Frangins on a Saturday evening in June. A complete success: 40 people were warmly welcomed, satisfied, and filled with joy and dancing, delighted by a truly exceptional evening. Romain and his team are perfect hosts: the sunny terrace was available, the homemade planter's punch was expertly prepared, the dishes were generous and delicious (and truly delicious: here, both the ingredients and the producers are carefully selected, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves), the wine list offered something for every palate (we were given a tasting a week before the event, so we knew exactly what to expect from our guests—a real treat!), and the bar transformed into a dance floor to top it all off. We felt right at home in this truly charming place, run by guys who really know how to manage a place and make guests feel welcome. An address to remember, and worth visiting in any season (I had the best grog of my life there last winter :) )

30/06/2026: We ate on the terrace in the center of the square on a very hot summer day and the temperature was perfect. The waitress was incredibly professional and attentive, speaking to us in both Spanish and English, and she was very accommodating regarding food intolerances and allergies, which was much appreciated. The food was all excellent, the set menu was substantial, and the individual dishes were delicious. The marinated salmon was amazing, and the croquettes and yogurt mousse dessert were also very good. 100% recommended.

04/05/2026: After the fourth rib steak, the cut deteriorated significantly, with a huge bone visible on the third and fourth occasions. I must also mention the disgusting frozen matchstick fries. Homemade fries are much better elsewhere. Beware of the takeaway pizzas; they infuriated me. My neighbor had one at his table that was supposed to be a pizza, but it was very wobbly in the box. When I opened it, I found a pizza barely bigger than a dessert plate. I felt insulted, and despite having paid for it, I angrily abandoned it on a high chair. They shamelessly rip you off. I advise everyone against going to L'Olivier. Go somewhere else, even to the neighbor's place, which is renowned for its pizzas. L'Olivier is absolutely to be avoided.

13/07/2026: The Green Monkey is our go-to spot for after-work drinks. The small terrace at the front of the establishment is perfect for that. It's also a nice place to eat. The menu is varied, the food is good, especially the burgers. I loved the ocean salad with salmon; it was well-seasoned. Perfect for lunch. The portions are generous. The shaded terrace at the back is very pleasant. It can be booked for parties or small corporate events. The only slight drawback is the railway line that runs alongside it. But you get used to it. The Green Monkey is a typical bar/brasserie.

04/07/2026: We took a walk around this old bastion town and were in the mood for coffee. We arrived at La Bastide, a very charming café-restaurant. We ordered a cappuccino with hot milk and whipped cream and the coffee. They certainly know what good coffee is here too. The coffee was served nicely on the terrace. Unfortunately, we had to move on, otherwise we would certainly have had a second one. The café looks cozy and clean! Moreover, the owner is very friendly with a smile, making guests (customers) more than welcome. If I'm ever in the area again, I think I'll definitely stop by this café for a cup of coffee and lunch, because everything looks well-maintained. The town of Monflanquin, where this café is located, is an ancient bastion surrounded by thick walls. Its location on top of a hill also gives you a magnificent 360-degree view. You feel like you've stepped back into the Middle Ages. I took some photos to give an impression of the town and the surrounding area.
