31/05/2026: We ate at this restaurant for Mother's Day as a group of six, and everyone was absolutely delighted. The quality of the food and the dishes prepared by the chef was excellent. We received a very warm welcome; the atmosphere was relaxed and genuine. We'll definitely be back.

02/08/2026: I don't like writing these kinds of reviews because I know how demanding working in the restaurant industry is, and I have the utmost respect for this profession and those who practice it – especially in France, with its wonderful and creative cuisine. That's why we were looking forward to this evening at "La Table des Baou," which enjoys a very good reputation. The meal was impeccable (not a revelation, but very well executed and delicious), but the service left much to be desired: compared to the neighboring tables, we were treated like second-class customers. When I asked to wait a moment before ordering so I could look at the extensive wine list, I was told it wasn't possible because the restaurant was too crowded. The wine wasn't at the correct temperature, and the bottle bag wasn't maintaining it either – while at neighboring tables, the bottles were served in ice buckets. When the casserole was served, the hot lid remained on the pot, and the waiter left without a word. A colleague did apologize for her colleague's carelessness, but this shouldn't happen in a restaurant of this caliber. How does this align with the standards the restaurant sets for itself? However, this reflected the overall impression: my family and I were disappointed by the lack of consideration for the customer and the effort made to ensure we had a pleasant evening. This began upon arrival and continued throughout the meal. I don't know if it was because we were easily identifiable as tourists or because we don't speak fluent French, even though we try. This is the first time, since we began regularly vacationing in France (at least once a year for over 10 years), that we have been treated like second-class customers. It's a shame this happened at "La Table des Baou." As for the atmosphere, we were seated below the terrace, in the charming little alleyway, and the food was truly excellent. For the cuisine: 5 stars, for the service: 1. Unfortunately, that only averages out to 3 stars!

04/08/2026: A great "Bouillon"-style restaurant in La Rochelle! It's a beautifully decorated restaurant with a truly friendly and pleasant atmosphere. The concept and the food: The ideal place to enjoy a variety of simple, traditional dishes that you don't have time (or find difficult) to cook at home. It's perfect for indulging in slightly unusual dishes (kidneys, snails, chicken liver, etc.) without forcing the rest of the table to share things they might not enjoy. There's something for everyone! The portions: At first glance, the plates don't seem generous, but don't be fooled! When you choose the set menu (starter, main course, and dessert), the balance is perfect and more than enough, especially in the evening. The service: Very professional and exceptionally well-managed. I was served by Isabelle, who manages to maintain a brisk pace while remaining very courteous, polite, and smiling with the customers. Prices: The set menus are reasonable and reflect the quality of the food. Good value for money. One last piece of advice: I highly recommend making a reservation! It seems very difficult to get a table without a reservation, and it's practically impossible if you're hoping to snag a spot on their tiny front terrace without one. In short, an excellent La Rochelle restaurant to remember!

27/05/2026: We booked by phone for May 23, 2026. The person wasn't particularly pleasant, but oh well... Arriving at 11:45 AM, we had an unforgettable experience. A man greeted us wearing a stained t-shirt with his fly open—appalling! It was impossible to ask any questions without him responding arrogantly. Towels were drying, spread out on the veranda tables... a bad smell pervaded the place. We quickly turned around and left, fortunately receiving excellent service at the Campanil next door. We called to cancel the reservation, and this same man again spoke rudely to us and hung up on us. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Following the response you dared to write, making me out to be a liar, I can add that you spoke rudely to me three times because my questions made you uncomfortable. You were in the back of a car with groceries in the trunk and children parked behind the hotel, not gardening. Your t-shirt was perfectly upright. Let's wait for the next reviews! STOP LYING, YOU WERE AWFUL!

22/04/2026: A truly exceptional spot 🧇😬, a must-visit during my stays at the Hôtel-Dieu! Located at the foot of Notre-Dame Cathedral, it's the perfect place for a delicious break 🍵🫖. There might be a bit of a wait, but once you're seated, you can enjoy a truly relaxing moment in a cozy tea room 🫶🏻. The slices of cake 🍰 are generous and delicious, the waffles are absolutely divine, and the drinks are both refreshing 🧊 and energizing, made with fresh fruit 🍓🍒🥝🫐. A place not to be missed!

22/04/2026: Do not get a crepe from the to-go window here. The crepes are pre-made and piled in a big stack which should have already been a deterrent. Then the cashier used his bare hands to peel a crepe back onto the griddle to reheat it. Disgusting!
