09/11/2025: Bonnieux and the Mistral's Embrace It was May 2025, and we were traveling through the Luberon region of Provence, France, specifically to Bonnieux, a small Provençal town perched on a scenic hilltop. The wind was strong, yet the view was breathtaking—especially the fields of poppy flowers and the cypress trees bent by the gale. We were searching for a local restaurant to sample authentic Provençal food and stumbled upon César, a small hotel-restaurant run by Stéphanie and Pierre-Yves. We were kindly welcomed and seated at a window table with a magnificent view of the Provençal landscape. Pierre-Yves informed us this strong, window-shaking wind was the famous Mistral, instantly making us feel the spirit of Peter Mayle's A Year in Provence. What followed was mesmerizing: three courses of Michelin-worthy dishes that dazzled in presentation and delighted our taste buds. Stéphanie, the talented chef, was very nice when we met her afterward, and we thanked her for the superb meal. We strongly recommend César for anyone wanting to experience true high-end Provençal cuisine at a reasonable price. Getting the Mistral is an added, unforgettable bonus.

04/12/2024: I went there by chance and had a very disappointing experience. Calzone with very few ingredients Bolognese served cold the first time and reheated a second time and always lukewarm and the pasta with a pasty sauce reheated several times Very very disappointed for the price!!! Grrr

22/09/2024: Had a great lunch here, sitting outside in the pretty square. The Maître d' speaks perfect English (with a strong US accent!) and was able to explain the finer points of the menu. Closes for the winter months but definitely looking forward to returning next year.

19/09/2024: We booked this hotel over the phone. We arrived late in the afternoon and had dinner. Very kindly welcomed by the landlady who took us to our spacious, clean and well-equipped room (newly renovated!). We went down for dinner. The menu offered included 3 starters, 3 main courses and 3 desserts to choose from. After some advice from the waiter, very pleasant and friendly, knowing his dishes well, we placed our order. And what a surprise it was a dinner full of flavors, an explosion in the mouth which exalted the right mix of spices and a Limousin meat cooked to perfection accompanied by small vegetables which went well with this beautiful piece of meat!!. All the praised products were fresh and cooked by the Chef 🧑‍🍳 Edith, the boss!!. It was such a beautiful and good place that we had lunch there on Sunday afternoon. We highly recommend Douce Demeure in Mortemart, the only village classified as "the most beautiful village in France in Haute Vienne!!. See you soon for another "gastronomic" stopover!!."

11/06/2025: This is my second time staying at the house and the food is still just as delicious. Homemade and refined dishes from starter to dessert in a setting where you feel good with good music!

24/05/2025: This restaurant offers a warm and intimate atmosphere, ideal for a romantic dinner. The homemade dishes are delicious, carefully prepared, and the prices remain very reasonable. The menu changes very regularly, allowing you to return again and again without ever getting bored. A wonderful place that I recommend without hesitation!

18/11/2025: Very good tarts and pastries in general, and of course, the Paris-Nice is excellent. The only possible downside: the prices have been constantly increasing for several years, and there's a lack of savory options.

23/12/2025: A very good experience at Mazarin! A friendly brasserie with a pleasant atmosphere and a warm setting. The dishes are well-prepared, tasty, and generously portioned, perfect for a relaxed meal. The service is efficient, the welcome is warm, and the value for money is very good. A reliable place to have a good time, I recommend it 👍
