28/12/2025: Nice but unpredictable restaurant. We ate there several times in 2025, but I don't think we'll be back in 2026. The food is decent, the setting is pleasant, but the staff is a gamble. The highlight was last night when the waitress clearly told one of her colleagues that we were being difficult (to put it politely, the term was less sanitized)... we asked for a dessert that had to be ordered upon arrival... the last time we came, this rule didn't seem to apply because we were able to order (chocolate pizza). The waiter from the previous visit, a young man with curly hair, had been friendly and energetic, but this time we got the opposite. It seems that the "extra," as she explained it to us, couldn't care less, or even found it annoying to serve. For your information, complain about customers off the record; it avoids getting into trouble... and rest assured, neither we nor our friends will bother you anymore. If you're bothered by people arriving late, please understand that unforeseen circumstances can occur (a breakdown in this case). So yes, two guests arrived later, at 9:00 PM, while the others were there at 8:00 PM, and I immediately felt like I was "bothering" them. So yes, I don't eat at a restaurant that makes me feel like I'm inconveniencing others. If you didn't understand that when I said "I'm sulking and not having dessert," it was a polite way of explaining that I wasn't going to "bother" you any longer, or even again, there are plenty of places to eat in Cognac. The Duguesclin restaurant is now off my list. (I'll also skip the French toast... I must not have the right recipe in mind, it seems, but your explanation that it's just the way it is and "don't bother me" was perfectly understood.)

02/10/2024: Katarina was the waitress helping me out. Got to say that she is very patient and the food in the restaurant was delicious. Service was slightly slow but only because they did not have enough staffing. The staff were doing their best. Had the tuna salad and calamari with artichokes. Toilets were clean

01/10/2024: Love this place for the past 35 years ... where you can still enjoy topical Nicoise food. Try the fleurs de cougette, bagna cauda, petits farcis, artichauts salad... and for desert try profiteroles au chocolat😃 Enjoy !

04/02/2026: My partner was disappointed with the cassoulet; the beans weren't very good. The service was far too fast; we didn't even have time to finish our aperitif before our main course arrived.

17/09/2025: We order a heirloom tomato burrata. We are served basic tomatoes. We remark on it and the boss says, "Well, if you know better than me." But when the waitress comes back, she says, "I asked the chef. Indeed, there were no more heirloom tomatoes. Sorry." The burrata must have been a mozzarella. In short, here, we take tourists for fools. There you go...

Impeccably clean and fully equipped kitchen. We had a wonderful weekend for our first family reunion (30 people), thanks to you. Lake Der is a must-see; it's magnificent. An ideal cottage for spending a weekend, or even longer, in complete peace and quiet. Thank you for everything and all the best. A well-deserved 5 stars!!

25/08/2025: Fresh, local produce. The duck rillettes are delicious. I should have ordered twice as many. The confit duck legs are just as delicious.
