07/07/2026: My wife and I have made it a tradition to go to Barneville-Carteret once a year. We know the restaurant Le Cap and have enjoyed coming there every year. For the first time, we were very disappointed by the quality of the food. My wife's beef was too salty, and I ordered grilled lobster. Of course, there are management and profit margin considerations to respect in a business, but for the price quoted, the lobster was small… and I don't think it was grilled but only baked. (In any case, it didn't look like grilled lobster.) The side dishes (vegetables) were not up to par… the ratatouille was mediocre, even, I would venture, industrial, given the texture of the eggplant, and as for the presentation of the purées… grainy in one case and plain in the other. I don't know if it's the same manager, and/or if management's instructions have changed, but it was disappointing. Fortunately, the front-of-house staff are still as kind and professional as ever, and the setting is just as pleasant. It's a shame about this sour note…

27/05/2026: While the golf course reception was very pleasant, the restaurant staff was a completely different story. The meal was decent, but the woman at the restaurant reception seemed to have forgotten that smiling at customers is an asset to any business. I'm not exaggerating at all; even the way they spoke to customers made you want to turn right around and leave. We came to play golf and eat before our round, and next time we'll definitely avoid the restaurant. What's more, we had a drink on the terrace after our round, and two people, apparently from the club, started smoking without even considering whether it bothered us!

22/06/2026: A really lovely place, with well-placed tables outside to enjoy a bit of fresh air during this heat. The service is simple and pleasant. The brunette lady who takes orders is very smiley and friendly. The two young waiters are efficient. The mixed salad—cheese, ham, olives, lentils, walnuts, etc.—served in a pretty salad bowl, is amazing. The price is more than reasonable. A place you absolutely must try.
