30/08/2026: A wonderful discovery: L’Ardoise des Cloutiers! This restaurant offers refined, generous, and flavorful cuisine, with remarkable value for money. We started with two different appetizers: the perfectly cooked egg with feta and eggplant caviar, beautifully executed, with an original and balanced combination of flavors. The other was the Saint-Marcellin cheese, crispy on the outside and meltingly soft on the inside: a particularly indulgent starter. For our main course, we chose the chicken ballotine with mashed potatoes and a rich jus. A very successful dish, with tender chicken, smooth mashed potatoes, and a well-reduced jus that added great depth to the dish. To accompany our meal, we ordered a carafe of Chinon wine, which was of excellent quality and paired perfectly with the dishes. And to finish, French toast with salted caramel: indulgent, comforting, and perfectly balanced with that touch of salt that enhances the caramel. A little tip: reservations are highly recommended! The restaurant was full when we visited, so the service was a bit slow. But honestly, it was well worth the wait. The staff is very friendly, and the wait is quickly forgotten once the food arrives. And above all, it's hard not to mention the price: €25.50 for a starter, main course, and dessert. At this level of quality, it's excellent value for money. A great place to eat in La Rochelle, with refined cuisine, generous portions, and prices that remain very reasonable. We'll gladly return!

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for spending quality time with friends, family, or as a couple, as was the case for us. We were delighted with the quality of the food: generous portions with no excess and impeccable quality. The price is very affordable, which makes last-minute bookings potentially difficult (remember to make a reservation). In short, a very good restaurant!

24/07/2026: As usual the food was very good. Great ambiance. Very nice to be able to inside with large open windows. The service is still very inconsistent. The orders came slowly, but that's fine, the restaurant was very full. The server took away our glasses before we finished our meal and before we decided to order a second bottle of wine. And the two small plates we ordered at the end took so long to arrive that we nearly canceled them. Made us feel that we had been forgotten.

This place is extraordinary, absolutely fantastic. The menu is well-crafted and the dishes are succulent; everything is perfectly prepared. Passing by and not eating here is a real shame. 02/07/2026: We‘ve been traveling throughout France for about two weeks, had various fancy-ish dinners. This one really stood out. Absolutely loved the food, the service and the atmosphere. Everything really down to earth and just very nice and welcoming. Of all the „Michelin Bib Gourmand’s“ we’ve been to this was the most fine dining (just without the overly fancy). Heavily recommend.
