14/03/2026: Part of Paris since the 1940s Chez Paul blends in with the local streets so seamlessly that most will walk by without notice, but since coming under ownership of the Karrenbauer family in 1998 the space at 13 Rue de Charonne has continued a proud tradition begun by Mr. and Mrs. Paul. Small but comfortable thanks to red leather banquetes, a tiled floor beneath brass ceilings and walls full of art, it is from a paper ledger that reservations are confirmed prior to seating at wood tables that require being slid aside to gain access. A locals sort of place, though the menu does offer English translations, fans of Bistro fare will find all the staples complimented by daily specials while the Wine list runs long yet quite affordable. Well-suited to families, especially on Sundays when so few Parisian Restaurants are open all day, starters come in the form of Escargot or French Onion Soup plus sizable slabs of Foie Gras and the chunky sort of housemade Terrine one rarely encounters outside of France. Far more affordable than tourist favorites, its place in the 11th undoubtedly part of the reason, main plates see Confit Duck done well without any fuss while Pepper Steak and Sweetbreads in reduced Soy are generous in terms of portion and flavor. Not a spot to skip Dessert, all but Ice Cream made on site, Chez Paul’s Baba is denser than Ducasse’s but no less delicious while the Œufs à la neige and Tarte Tatin are each classics prepared the right way.

14/03/2026: A wonderful discovery! Bone marrow, leeks vinaigrette (so good and rare!), onion soup with Morbier cheese, etc. For main courses, I recommend the duck breast with morello cherries; it's truly a must-try. The vegetables were excellent, except for a wilted side salad—I didn't understand why. Otherwise, there's the steak poivre flambéed with cognac, served with a delicious gratin on a separate plate (like my wilted salad). The desserts were good, but I wouldn't recommend the floating island; the custard was thick and too sweet. The atmosphere is authentic; it's like stepping back in time. However, expect to pay around €70 per person. It's definitely worth it, but not an everyday experience.

27/09/2026: Shameful and unacceptable. When I ordered a gourmet coffee, I discovered glass in the chocolate cream. A second cream was brought to me as a replacement… and I found glass in that one too! Twice in a row, in the same dessert: this is extremely concerning. I shudder to think what the consequences would have been if I had swallowed it. I was particularly shocked by the casual way the situation was handled. The compensation was limited to a free dessert, with an attitude that seemed to completely disregard the seriousness of the incident. Offering a free dessert is not enough to address such a problem. I expected genuine accountability and a response commensurate with the risk. Customer safety deserves a minimum level of seriousness. This experience has completely destroyed my trust in this establishment.

22/07/2026: We stayed at this hotel for six nights, choosing it for its central location in relation to the area we wanted to visit (the Côte d’Azur and Provence). The hotel is situated in a very peaceful, hilly area, with no traffic or noise, yet just five minutes from the shopping centre and the motorway junction, and ten minutes from the centre of Antibes. The rooms are very clean and have all the comforts you’d expect from a 4-star hotel (minibar, TV, air conditioning, Wi-Fi). The breakfast is truly exceptional, with fresh, high-quality produce (I particularly enjoyed the freshly made fruit salads, the baguettes and cheeses, as well as the salmon, which was available every day). The swimming pool is a real bonus because it allowed us to relax every day after returning from our daily outings. I’ll finish by praising the staff, who were truly the icing on the cake: everyone was extremely kind and ready to cater to every request, from the reception staff and the breakfast/bar staff right through to the cleaning ladies. 30/07/2026: This restaurant had been recommended to us, but we unfortunately left disappointed. At €50 for a four-course menu, the price seemed reasonable. However, given the establishment's positioning, we expected much more attentive service. From the very first course, there was no presentation whatsoever. This was rectified later by a staff member. The presentation of the second course was rushed, the fourth was adequate, and no explanation was given for the dessert. Several details also gave an impression of a lack of care: the bread plates were still full of crumbs and were used as a base for the dessert coulis, the aperitif glasses hadn't been cleared even though the wine had already been poured, and the wait between courses was far too long. It wasn't all bad, though. The wine recommendation was excellent, as was the homemade sangria. Regarding the dishes, the zucchini accompanying the fish was undercooked, but that remains a subjective opinion. Overall, the plates were quite well presented. Finally, we were told the bill would arrive. After waiting about five minutes without any news, we had to go to the counter to pay. I imagine the employee sensed our annoyance, since she didn't ask us how our evening had gone. We won't be going back. That said, given the numerous positive reviews, I think this is probably an isolated incident and that this type of problem is occasional. Nevertheless, I feel it's important to bring these points to light so they can be taken into account and corrected for future customers. The goal isn't to criticize the establishment, but to share an experience that I hope will contribute to improving the quality of service.

26/07/2026: We had booked a table at this restaurant located in a beautiful house in the historic heart of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. We opted for an indoor table in a lovely dining room, which must be particularly pleasant in winter. The dishes we chose were excellent and original, from the amuse-bouche (which we didn't know about beforehand) to the dessert. The wines by the glass were very good. In addition, we would add that the service was professional and also lively, which we appreciated. We highly recommend this restaurant.

28/09/2026: During our visit to Paris, we had dinner at the Auberge Bressane. The welcome was perfect, the quality of the food was excellent, and the service was too.
