14/02/2026: Delicious food, quick and efficient service. However, a couple of minor drawbacks: the extra charges—€1 for a slice of lemon in the beer!!! and €8 for the morels that accompany the veal steak. That's a third of the price of the steak. That said, it was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. There were no scallops in the vol-au-vent and very little sweetbread in the starter.

It's a sure bet and a must-visit in Salins-les-Bains!

02/05/2026: This review concerns only the restaurant. We had a lovely meal with friends on the terrace of the Auberge du Vieux Château.
After a superb welcome upon arrival from Cyril and his team, we chose to try the lunch menu offered by Chef Tim CINQUIN and his staff. To start, a delicious sea bream ceviche with exotic spices: a feast for the eyes and the palate. Next came a delicate fillet of red mullet, accompanied by Provençal vegetables. Finally, to complete this experience, a raspberry craquelin éclair with light lavender cream and pistachio ice cream, a creation of pastry chef Marck SAINT-ETIENNE: once again, a visual and gustatory delight. One of my friends, a vegetarian, was able to enjoy dishes perfectly adapted by the chef. The entire team is incredibly attentive, both in the kitchen and in the dining room. A big thank you to them all for this wonderful experience.

The food was of exceptional quality, with expertly prepared and beautifully presented ingredients. The service was top-notch, attentive, and highly professional from start to finish.
All this in a stunning setting, ideal for sharing a convivial moment with a group.
And to top it all off: unbeatable value for money.
A place I wholeheartedly recommend!

03/05/2026: Avoid this restaurant at all costs! The service was terrible (the waitress interrupted our order to help her colleague with other customers, and made a rude "oh damn, I forgot the name"). Lack of experience and poor memory. No water, even though we'd asked for it upon arrival. Starters were brought out before we'd finished our aperitifs. The vegetarian dish was inedible: the chickpea croquettes were overcooked and completely dry, the two vegetables on the plate were also inedible and overcooked, and the sauce was a gelatinous, frozen kind of sauce. The lamb dish was also unsuitable: the person who ate it became ill within an hour of our departure and suffered from stomach pains and vomiting until the following morning. Desserts were very average, except for the rice pudding. Regarding the vegetarian dish, we mentioned it to the waitress, who explained that the kitchen didn't understand and hadn't received any other complaints. No compensation was offered at the end. The cook repeatedly walked between customers with aluminum trays filled with vacuum-packed ingredients: meat, vegetables, etc. This is a disgrace to Burgundian cuisine. Absolutely avoid this place! We spent €240 on this for four people!
