14/02/2026: A wonderful discovery at La Rive à Houle. Refined bistronomic cuisine with beautifully presented dishes, quality ingredients, and elegant presentation. The service is attentive and the setting pleasant. Special mention goes to the wine cellar, extensive and well-curated, which will delight wine lovers. This is definitely an address that deserves to be (re)discovered in the area. I highly recommend it.

27/02/2026: Hiking from Bidart to St Jean-de-Luz, I was so happy to find this bar open on February 26th, under summer-like weather! A very warm welcome, a fantastic location with a breathtaking sea view, and excellent food (special mention for the red berry panna cotta). I promised to leave a (good) review... and here it is!

22/02/2026: A disappointing experience from start to finish. There were two of us, and we arrived at 1:10 PM. We were told there would be a 20-minute wait; after 40 minutes, I had to remind them we were still there. We were finally seated. Another 25 minutes passed before anyone took our order. The appetizer arrived quickly, but then… more than 40 minutes of waiting without ever seeing the main course. We decided to leave and made our dissatisfaction known while paying for our appetizers and drinks. No apology, no consideration whatsoever, and to top it all off, a member of staff called me an “idiot.” I understand they were busy… but still! Lack of organization, a complete absence of professionalism, and unacceptable behavior from some staff members. Truly disappointed!

15/02/2026: I must admit I'm quite surprised given the many very positive reviews. I came in with high hopes… but I really didn't enjoy it. And yet, I'm not someone who eats without salt: I usually season my food myself and I'm happy to add salt. This was just too much. The accras were extremely salty, the "perfect egg" was more like a hard-boiled egg, and the broth served with the lamb shank was practically undrinkable because of the salt. The seven-hour beef was tender, but lacked sauce and was also too salty. The desserts were decent, even good, but nothing memorable. On the other hand, I have no complaints about the service: the woman who looked after us was very kind and attentive, which made the experience pleasant despite everything. In the end, I don't understand the difference with the comments I had read: for me, the food remains just average, mainly because of really excessive seasoning.

06/02/2026: We went there on the recommendation of a family friend, and we should thank her for the recommendation. The service was very pleasant and quick, and the quality of the food speaks for itself, at least as far as the dishes I tried are concerned. (The menu changes every 3-4 months.) I highly recommend it.

18/02/2026: Excellent restaurant, I highly recommend it: 5 stars well deserved. My first stop near Cholet and frankly, I wasn't disappointed. Warm welcome, large parking lot suitable for truckers, top-notch service. The only minor detail is that the showers are slightly narrow, but it's really insignificant compared to the overall quality.

05/02/2026: Excellent value for money, it's incredible! The set menu is €14.50 with an all-you-can-eat starter buffet! The buffet is excellent, with new options regularly added. The owners of this restaurant are very welcoming and friendly. Special mention for the service, which is always top-notch, with a smile and energy. If I had to recommend one dish: go for the fish with beurre blanc sauce, it's excellent! My only small piece of advice: I prefer the pasta bolognese. Everything is great, go for it!

02/11/2025: The star is well-deserved. Succulent from start to finish. The wine pairing enhanced the tasting experience. Amuse-bouches, petits fours, hors d'oeuvres, and pre-desserts perfectly complemented the meal. Impeccable service. A peaceful overnight stay with a generous breakfast. All this in a setting that blends tradition and modernity, reflecting the couple, parents and children, who run this wonderful restaurant. My best friend and I were completely won over.

15/10/2025: A fifth visit that will remain a timeless moment with explosions of flavors, sparks of color, accompanied by a subtle wine pairing and a welcome and service full of kindness and elegance. A Family with a capital "F", who share the talent of "great chefs". Bravo again to you, and thank you for this enchanting interlude. We are already planning to return.... With a little massage as a bonus....
