03/09/2026: Completely rude. Yes, they are busy as the good is very good but that does not excuse rudeness. I was trying to stay out of the busyness and quickly took the menu while thanking the waiter. He snatched it from my hand and then put it back while telling me to calm down. Maybe a bit of a misunderstanding if my quickness was mistaken for impatience but why was he telling me to calm down when he obviously was not. You don’t get to act like this when you are in the business of customer service.

18/09/2026: Update: Message To the owner: To be absolutely clear again, the waiter who served us was polite and I've made a point of saying that in my review. The issue was with the manager / owner who came down. I've made no reference to how tall he was because that's not relevant. What made us feel uncomfortable was his confrontational attitude (we were sat whilst he was standing). Finally, again you've made a false accusation. The accusation is very serious, and you've made it on a public forum, which is why I've addressed it. I would not and did not make that statement. Please remove it because it is defamatory. If you remove that sentence, I will remove this additional reply. I have addressed its inclusion in my update above): Easily the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had due mostly to the rude, arrogant and borderline bullying nature of the owner. It was so bad that I felt I had to write this review to warn others. My wife and I are seasoned travellers and enjoy seeking out places that are a little off the beaten track and where we can experience something a bit more local. We love Paris and my wife especially loves cheese, so this was to be a highlight of a weekend that was also our 20th wedding anniversary. We arrived without a reservation, so we were pleased to be accommodated downstairs. The issues started with the menu. Unfortunately, our French is limited (please, thank you, etc) as was the waiter’s English. As travellers, we’ve experienced this often and we always get through by being polite and using common sense to overcome any difficulties. We’ve never had an issue and have always found that staff understand if they see you’re making an effort, especially when you’re not fluent in the native language. We found the waiter to be friendly, courteous, patient and polite. The cheesboard option allows you to choose a region or make you own as long as you have at least 6 cheeses (states that on the menu). My wife chose hers but there was a lot of confusion when I tried to choose mine. To save time and after much back and forth, I asked for a selection of hams instead. My wife’s cheese plate was brought as was my selection of hams. I was then brought a selection of cheeses I hadn’t asked for. I politely said I would stick with the ham, so the waiter took the cheese selection away. Then the owner came down and said we had to have the cheese board. I said there had been some confusion and that I had said to the waiter that I had decided to have the ham selection instead. I was told that this is a side and that I had to have the cheese board. This is not clear on the English menu. What happened next though is the main issue. He told us we either have the cheese board or ‘get out of the restaurant’. For comparison, the cheese board was only 10-12 euros more so we’re not talking a huge amount of money here. For context, we were sat in a corner table downstairs with the owner standing over us in an intimidating manner, clearly angry and not wanting to show any desire to be conciliatory. He was loud (everyone was watching) and left us feeling embarrassed and humiliated. We were not sure how he would react if we disagreed with him so felt to calm his anger we would agree. To be honest, it took us a minute or two to get over the shock. The family on the table next to us were lovely and could see that we were taken aback and upset at being spoken to this way. We decided though that we were not going to be bullied into eating the meal, which we would not have enjoyed, so we decided to calmly get up and leave. Disgraceful behaviour from the owner. This is clearly a popular place but perhaps it has become a tourist trap where those who run things don’t feel they have to be polite. I would not be surprised if any response to this is simply ‘well most people like it’ rather than an acceptance of the distress caused. Avoid this place at all costs!

18/09/2026: Delicioso is a perfect place to try fondue, have a nice wine and enjoy some of the French cuisine.

05/08/2026: Excellent Italian meal, fresh pasta perfectly al dente. And as an added bonus, the chef speaks French, which is fantastic for explaining things to you – go without hesitation!

30/08/2026: We received a very warm welcome from a friendly and helpful person. We had a wonderful meal, delicious homemade food, perfectly prepared – everything was excellent. A place to remember and well worth a visit, especially since it's in the heart of the village – a lovely location. We sat on the terrace, which was very pleasant and peaceful.

19/08/2026: We went to dinner at this wonderful place. The staff was very friendly, and we thank the waitress who served us for making us feel at ease despite our very basic French 😅. The food was excellent and of high quality. We would definitely recommend it.

13/08/2026: A charming spot nestled in the vineyards just outside Saint Tropez. Service is attentive but never intrusive. Excellent, high-quality food, generous portions. The bill was also lower than expected considering the prices in the area.

15/09/2026: A very nice place, simple and friendly. The staff are genuinely kind, the food is plentiful and, above all, delicious. You can spend a pleasant time there with family or friends, whether for coffee, lunch, dinner, or a weekend. There's plenty to do: relax, play pétanque, swim, go for a walk or a bike ride, or simply do nothing at all.

10/10/2026: You absolutely must discover this Estaminet, so be sure to book well in advance, especially if there are more than two of you! At Chez la Vieille, from the moment you step inside, you're transported to an incredible world of warmth and atmosphere. It's certainly noisy, but that's what creates the ambiance, the very essence of life! Not a single flaw, a top-notch team, well done! As for the food, I had the croquettes and Welsh rarebit with Maroilles cheese… divine! I highly recommend it.

24/08/2026: A fantastic find! We ended up going twice during our week-long holiday at the Digne-les-Bains campsite in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The food was top-notch, homemade, with very generous portions, and the owners were incredibly kind. Well done and thank you both! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves both evenings 😋 All the best from the four of us. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back 200%! 😉

20/09/2026: A very pleasant surprise to find this restaurant so close to Valognes but far from the tourist traps along the coast! Authentic, high-quality cuisine, very reasonable prices, and friendly, efficient service combine to create a delightful experience.

03/10/2026: I was very disappointed. I chose this restaurant two years ago for my father's birthday, and we were very satisfied, so we wanted to go back. We had three different waiters, one of whom wasn't very pleasant. The appetizers were good, except the tuna tartare wasn't cold and hadn't been "cooked" by the lemon... very disappointing. Clearly, the cooks don't know the different cooking methods for duck breast. The desserts weren't good quality and, once again, weren't cold. A strawberry charlotte at room temperature, especially considering how hot it was that Sunday, was simply indigestible. However, a special mention for the owner's kindness.

03/10/2026: The €27 set menu for starter, main course, and dessert offers good value for money. The mushroom tatin starter was very original. The main course included a nice assortment of lightly cooked and varied vegetables. The poached pear on the almond biscuit was a real treat. The service was friendly, quick, and cheerful. Contrary to some of the grumbling reviews, I'm happy to be surprised and surprised to be happy... but to each their own.

There's a great atmosphere among the whole team, congratulations to the managers! One area for improvement: the quality of the sirloin steak, which could have been more tender considering the price.

09/10/2026: The best Buffalo Grill experience was at the one in Bourgoin. The welcome was warm, the service perfect, and the meat cooked to perfection.

30/09/2026: We were at Villa Margot for a wedding. From the street, you wouldn't realize it's such a lovely place. The exterior at night is truly magnificent, and the meal was excellent. We'll definitely be back.
