06/12/2025: I've been waiting for my food for an hour. And it's clearly not going to arrive anytime soon.

05/12/2025: A €14 salad consisting mainly of lettuce leaves! The Caesar salad had mayonnaise dressing and a few breaded pieces of chicken. No croutons. The Parmesan had no flavor. Avoid it.

19/09/2024: Meat orders air dropped. Good food. Expect fun. The market is crowded, so plan on a wait, but it will be worth it. Enjoy the action.

25/01/2025: First time at “La cuisine d’Antan” and certainly not the last. The menu and suggestions are tempting and we want to taste everything! The setting, first of all, original due to its historical and architectural aspect (old malthouse having withstood the horrors of the Second World War), perfectly rehabilitated, making the place cozy. The staff then: top notch! very professional, helpful and in a good mood. We immediately feel at ease. Finally, the table: an excellent cocktail "My sweetness", a tarte flambée with "homemade" products - right down to the smoking of the bacon - equally excellent, then the veal cordon bleu, Vosges for my part, top-notch! We have rarely eaten a cordon bleu of such quality. Really a very good restaurant, with good value for money. Go there with your eyes closed!

26/06/2025: Impeccable service and welcome. After a 5-minute wait, we were seated on the terrace. The waitresses were very friendly and welcoming. The tarte flambée was excellent.

25/06/2025: We had 1 Pompeii pizza and 1 wild garlic/margière tarte flambée. The wild garlic tarte flambée was good. But the Pompeii pizza and the margière tarte flambée didn't really taste like raw ham. Overall, it was good.

08/07/2025: One word: outstanding. From the very beginning, everything was seamless — starting with the ease of the reservation system. The restaurant is located in a charming seaside town, and it beautifully embraces its historical roots. Being right by the water adds a magical touch, but the interior is just as captivating. The atmosphere inside is warm and full of character. The vintage photographs hanging on the walls are simply beautiful — and after reading about the restaurant’s history in the menu, seeing those photos brings the whole story to life. It’s like stepping into a living memory, where past and present come together in the most elegant way. The menu is thoughtful and well-curated, and you can tell great care goes into how each dish is prepared and cooked. The flavors were absolutely on point — every bite was memorable. The service was equally impressive: attentive, friendly, and professional from start to finish. I’ve been thinking hard, but I genuinely can’t find a single flaw. It was simply perfect in every way.

06/07/2025: My family was so excited to eat at La Mere Germaine based on reviews and word-of-mouth in various Facebook groups. Unfortunately, our experience was not good. While we did like the location by the sea in Villefranche, the food and the service were severely lacking. The waiter completely forgot to bring my husband’s drink; we never received it. One of my children ordered a burger from the kids’ menu, and we requested the meat to be cooked “à point” for medium (medium rare would also have been ok), and the burger was cooked beyond well done and was awful. The first appetizer arrived, and then my daughter’s meal arrived. She was the only one with food, and we waited quite a while for the second appetizer. By the time our main courses arrived, my daughter was done with her dinner. The timing was so poor. The ceviche appetizer was ok, but the lobster ravioli appetizer was a (bad) joke for the quantity and price. Not to mention that the ravioli itself didn’t taste very good. The main courses were disappointing as well. We’re foodies and have dined at excellent restaurants throughout Paris and the French Riviera. We didn’t have one bad meal—until we dined at this restaurant. Nice and Villefranche have so many restaurants that are better, and some are also less expensive. I happily pay a lot for good food and service, and I received neither. I surmise that La Mere Germaine is surviving based on its history and reputation, but the actual experience is a let down for sure. I would recommend going elsewhere.

09/12/2025: I had a very nice dinner and enjoyed the very friendly staff in this establishment. I picked the entrecote from the day menu which was not the best veal but certainly cooked to perfection. The fries definitely looked nice, definitely not the best, too cold and not crispy at all which was a pity. But its not a fries restaurant. There are some nice desserts and I picked the crème brulee which was really very nice with a lovely warm caramelised layer. There is plenty to try and for the attendance you'll definitely come back.

19/06/2025: A picturesque restaurant serving local produce. I had a starter, main course, and dessert from the menu. As a starter, I enjoyed a crayfish and tomato tourtou, which was original. As a main course, I loved my beef cheek, which was delicious. For dessert, I loved my apricot flognarde. Quality baguette bread. Reasonably priced at €34.

07/11/2025: My friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant while wandering down an alley and we have absolutely no regrets about eating there. Everything was perfect for a lovely evening and a delicious meal. The servers were very pleasant and courteous, and the service was quick. The cuisine was local, excellent, and refined. The portion sizes were perfect for a full meal (we had the €20 set menu). The value for money was excellent! The drinks were also delicious and generously portioned. The dining room had a very traditional feel and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

16/09/2024: In a pleasant setting, refined cuisine. Very pleasant blends of flavors, from appetizers to desserts, everything is fresh, tasty, in a word excellent and very nicely presented. Food/wine pairings sometimes unexpected and surprising but to the best effect. A very attentive, professional team, with a welcome touch of humor. A moment of happiness to end a few days of vacation in style. Good luck to you.
