30/08/2024: Short passage to Saint Rambert d'Albon, we decided to stop for lunch. A magnificent discovery, a lovely shaded setting, a very pleasant and friendly welcome, excellent cuisine with fresh produce, home cooking with lots of love, careful presentation, a feast for the eyes and the taste buds are more than titillated. We will return from our village in Drôme des Collines, in order to taste other treats. Daily formula from 17.50 euros.

04/09/2024: Ora di pranzo, percorriamo la strada, stiamo attenti a qualche insegna di ristorazione, eccola: l'Auberge de la Vanne, bene, c'è anche spazio per parcheggiare ed è l'ora giusta per il pranzo.
Entriamo, bella sala, ci si avvicina una signora, ci indica la tavola ove accomodarci, anche se non avevano prenotato.
Amo questi ristoranti ove il marito è in cucina, la moglie è in sala, ancora di più quando i cibi sono buoni.
Di più: apprezzo moltissimo chi è come M.me Isabelle, ovvero la cordialità, il buonumore in persona.
Scegliamo la formula piatto + dessert.
Porco cotto lentamente, a bassa temperatura, con carota, tòcchi di patata, un pizzico di ratatouille, due foglie di insalata, saporito, tenerissimo, per nulla filaccioso, adagiato su una salsina che completava la squisitezza del piatto.
il dessert: crema pistacchiata con fragole, anche questa ottima, che ben ha accompagnato il caffè.
Conto: 53.20€.
Un rimpianto: non avere questo ristorante sotto casa!

You should know that the menu available on the internet is no longer up to date... today it is offered a single dish (rib of beef) in two different menus to choose from (with different starters and desserts), and unlimited cider for 35€, or 39€ depending on the formula chosen
But we really enjoyed it, it was excellent from start to finish, and very generous in portions!
And helping yourself to the barrels of different ciders adds a fun side and the waiter who advises us is very nice, thank you we had a good time!
26/09/2024: What a great discovery! Frankly the best (and biggest) rib of beef and Basque ciders that we have had the chance to discover and all that at a very fair price. A big thank you to Joël our server who accompanied us very well during our meal.

23/09/2024: Significant improvement in service this year with very pleasant staff, whether at reception or in the restaurant. This must be emphasized because this has not always been the case!
After our disappointment last year in terms of the rooms (mouldy mattresses, smell of humidity, cold, smell of cigarettes...and never received a response following our complaint), this time, nothing to say. We were lucky, the neighbors were non-smokers... because we must admit that it's a big problem when you can't open your balcony because of the cigarette smoke coming into the room...! This being in a wooded location it would be better to favor dedicated spaces rather than letting people smoke on the terraces of the rooms.

21/09/2024: Exorbitant prices. The meal left us a little nauseated. The servers were condescending.
21/09/2024: Told off as soon as we arrived, as we sat down at a table without being invited to sit. Waiter then tried to be friendly until we only ordered soup for late lunch. Apparently he wanted us to have a 3 course meal at a set price. He said we were taking up a table of 4 and we were the fourth people who didn’t want a full meal that day. He was so rude, we offered to pay for our drinks, then leave. He begrudgingly let us have the soup but charged us for one 3 course meal. The soup was bland, nothing like you expect from French onion soup. Have never been treated this bad at any restaurant ever.

29/08/2024: Even if I see in the last comments on "Chez Daniel" that the criticism is not well received, I will say what I think about it in terms of reception. I will not be able to testify on the quality of the dishes given that we had not reserved, there was no place for us.
Regarding the menu, no raclettes, only tartiflette fondues or reblochonades. Too bad for a mountain restaurant...
On the other hand, I'm leaving a review because I didn't appreciate the welcome at all and the very unpleasant little phrase "book next time!" Slipped in as if to say I'm busy, if you don't have a reservation you're bothering me!
So as it was our last evening we went elsewhere and given the welcome I wouldn't have wanted to come back anyway!
28/08/2024: A great family time! With two young children, a smiling waitress and an involved cook, the fondue was perfect and plentiful. Excellent crème brûlée. The children had pancakes and were delighted. Local produce from food to drinks. The people of Flaine eat there and it’s a sign of quality. I highly recommend and I am very demanding. It was one of the highlights of the family vacation. THANKS

30/08/2024: Very good lunch for my birthday on August 23 with my 90 year old Mom. She who doesn't like risotto really enjoyed it! Tiramisu also very good for me who doesn't like desserts! We had a great time and the server was attentive. I will come back as a neighbor to have dinner with friends.
27/08/2024: Sympathique restaurant de quartier qui vient de changer de propriétaire. Rue calme et petite terrasse agréable, des plats simples et bons, un patron qui vous accueille avec le sourire. Parfait pour la pause déjeuner !

15/08/2024: A la fin d'une randonnée très arrosée , nous avons été chaleureusement accueillis par l'équipe du restaurant Lou San Jean . Service très rapide , une viande excellente,un rosé savoureux tout comme les desserts. Un rapport qualité/ prix imbatable . Je conseille sans réserve. Michel
