16/07/2024: Vi fikk en servitør som ikke var bra. Vi ga tidlig beskjek om at bein marg var for kald, biff tartart ble servert med håt og Confit du canard vat brent og smaksløs. Får ikke til å legge ut min anmeldelse på googglo og det er beklakelig

16/07/2024: This place was recommended to us and what swayed us was the service. We had a bit of trepidation about reserving a table here as it couldn’t be as good as expected… but it was. The server was humorous and engaging… the food was excellent (the bread and garlic sauce pre-dinner was awesome)… Escargots, Salad Tomate, Beef Bourginon, Steak Tartare… it was all really good. We would go back again.

20/12/2023: Très bon repas dans ce restaurant, le poulet était tendre et le tiramisu parfait, pour un prix raisonnable. Un peu bruyant mais la salle était remplie. Le service et l'endroit agréables, nous reviendrons !

14/12/2023: Je recommande cette adresse pour sa Convivialité et la qualité des plats . Je n'oublie pas le personnel qui est particulièrement aimable, agreable et serviable .

After reading about Le Bistro d'en Face in Le Michellin guide we were excited to visit for dinner on the terrace overlooking the Dordogne river, and boy were we not disappointed! The food was excellent 👌,fresh ingredients, prepared simply but with panache. We both opted for the local delicacy of Canard de Foix Gras served with 2 variations of prune jus and a stick of homemade walnut bread. The Foix Gras was rich and buttery while the prune sauces balanced the dish with sweet sharpness. For my main course I opted for the smoked and grilled beef fillet, cooked medium rare to perfection with home cooked pomme frites, carrot puree, grilled spring onions and a creamy, savoury, borderlais type sauce. Dressed with pickled white mustard seeds it was a perfectly put together and well thought out plate. Well balanced, with no one component battling against the others. My companion chose the grilled turbot with samphire and lemon butter sauce served with a separate creamy pea rissoto and what looked like a parmesan crisp coloured with squid ink. The fish was cooked perfectly, delicate firm flesh with a beautiful light flavour. There is a reason the turbot is the king of fish! Well balanced fillet with a buttery, fatty edge meeting the crispy skin. Imagine salmon belly sashimi and you'll be close! The sauce was rich, sharp and complemented the fish well and the salty samphire balanced out the richness perfectly. Finally onto the last course. A selection of french cheeses was delivered to my side of the table, while a light and airy mousse au chocolat with a hazelnut crisp and strawberry sorbet was placed down opposite. The cheeses had clearly been left to breathe for a while as they were at the perfect temperature, creamy, soft and the clear winner was the goats cheese from the Pyranes, delicious! A close second was the firm, slightly golden cows milk cheese. I only tasted a small spoonful of my companions dessert, but what a spoonful....Rich, decedent and voluptuous. A chocolate lovers dream dessert. The house Rosé was better than average, somewhat let down by the plastic cooler sleeve. The food and the service were superb. A clear example of a restaurant with a small selection of dishes done to perfection. My only real criticisms were that we were expected to keep our cutlery for both our starter and main course. Why Le Bistro d'en Face???? This was disappointing for a restaurant with such a good reputation. Linen napkins and a fish knife for the turbot would have been nice additions, but not a necessity. All in all a great evening and highly recommended.

29/09/2024: Un très bon moment ! Nous avons découvert ce resto à la sortie d'un spectacle, un peu par hasard... Un régal, un bouchon comme on les aime... Une cuisine authentique, des mets de qualité et un service très agréable... Le tout pour un très bon rapport qualité prix. On valide et recommande!

19/09/2024: Je n’avais pas de réservation et on m’a demandé de partager la table. Il paraît que c’est le principe dans un bouchon. J’étais un peu sceptique au début mais j’ai adoré l’expérience. Très bon et super service par ailleurs

26/09/2024: Service rapide et chaleureux . Belle présentation des plats. Mets succulents et goûteux. Super accueil, les serveuse sont sympathiques et souriantes.

23/09/2024: Cuisine excellente, personnel accueillant. Nous nous sommes présentés vendredi soir en voyant la choucroute de la mer en plat du jour mais hélas le restaurant était complet. Voyant notre déception la patronne nous a proposé de la prendre à emporter et de la déguster au bord de la mer devant le coucher de soleil. Vraiment une très bonne adresse. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir

14/09/2024: We stayed there for a week. Great hotel, with service beyond expectations and an excellent restaurant, offering light menus. The staff are really attentive, the swimming pool and the entire hotel are perfectly maintained and clean. There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere, it is very pleasant. The rooms and the gym could do with a little updating but the view is simply breathtaking. No air conditioning in the rooms but we didn't need it. There is a large, easily accessible parking lot, although some days it is full quite early. The location is ideal both for cures in Contrexéville or Vittel and for hiking. A great discovery, we will come back, that’s for sure!

03/08/2025: Dishes that appear simple on the menu reveal their complexity on the plate. It's fresh, it's delicious, the service is impeccable, and all at a reasonable price.

21/09/2024: When we arrived at the Côte de Beef we were delighted by the welcome from the very pleasant and caring staff. This great first impression was reinforced when the dishes arrived. We highly recommend the beef tartare and the grilled lamb which we enjoyed. Thank you for this moment.

22/09/2024: We leave disappointed...we had reserved for 2 and the small table allocated to us was the one in the entrance wedged between the toilets, the bar and the front door...a lot of comings and goings and we had better known as a place for a romantic lunch... then, the pancakes and pancakes are, certainly, well filled but lack cooking and that little extra that makes you tempted by a 2nd batch... well, the service, without being unpleasant, is a little hasty, we feel the staff tired or annoyed, speed in short "don't heat them up!"....We leave without necessarily wanting to come back.

02/07/2026: We had a wonderful evening and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The welcome was fantastic, and the entire team was wonderful. The dishes were delicious and perfectly presented. I will gladly return and highly recommend this establishment.

02/05/2026: Arrived at 8:30 PM on April 30th. The order was taken correctly, however, the service... We ordered a whisky and orange juice, and were served a whisky and orange slice. It was already off to a bad start. The meal began reasonably well with the appetizers being quite good, but the wait for the hot dishes was interminable. At 11 PM, the waiter arrived, laughing, and asked if we wanted coffee, even though we hadn't had dessert. At 11 PM, the kitchen was closed. A complete lack of professionalism from this young man and his team!
