15/12/2025: December 14, 2025. I still missed the waiter who constantly teases you because you only had €10 in cash. I've never seen anything like that in any of the refuges I've been to. Not noticing the signs at the start of the trail that said "no credit/debit cards accepted," we asked if we could order something to split for that amount. (Which, incidentally, was available: polenta with butter and parmesan cheese.) From there, the first jokes (ignored) began, with a refrain of "I'll take care of it, we'll see, we can work something out." He sat us down and shortly after, without saying anything, brought some plates. From there, a constant sneering and banter that made us feel less uncomfortable than more, almost like we were begging. "What's life like for the poor?" "Who washes the dishes between the two of us?" All this in front of the other tables. In the end, it turned out we could pay with Satispay (even though we'd already asked for it before, but they refused because they said there was no signal. In fact, the Wi-Fi worked right away). The best part was that we could have easily ordered an appetizer, main course, dessert, and coffee, thus spending triple the amount, but instead they chose to constantly mock two customers who wanted to come back another time and spend much more, just to thank what seemed like a genuine kindness. Unfortunately, it was kindness disguised as rudeness, because, aside from the constant teasing, if you tell you we only have €10, let us sit down, and then bring us a €16 dish, then you're really acting in bad faith. I didn't want to raise my voice at that point because I was already too embarrassed to say, "Here's the agreed-upon €10, let him add the €6." So, thank goodness, Satispay was available. And since I'm not dishonest, I paid what was due. Evidently you hadn't spoken. So, another tease. Anyway, all it took for me to hear the waitress say "Enough, Dad," after more constant banter before payment, was for me to realize there was already some discomfort here. You tried to get too familiar, you teased me the whole time, you gave a clear lesson in how to treat customers in front of relatives, and now you've caused the (albeit beautiful) refuge where you work to get a negative review. My sincere compliments.

23/04/2026: Restaurant supposed to close at 4:30pm, we arrived at 4pm and everything was already closed, chairs on the tables and cleaning finished… and the staff were incredibly rude… Very expensive round-trip ticket for not even being able to have a coffee!

25/04/2026: Friendly welcome, nice place. We hadn't seen the menu, and when we were asked to choose, we politely asked for the menu and suggestions. The waiter replied, "The menu has been here for half an hour," even though we'd only been seated for 15 minutes. We've been coming here for years, and this is the second time we've been treated rudely. It's a real shame because the place is lovely, and the food is excellent.

18/04/2026: We ordered two pizzas that arrived burnt!! (see photo), we couldn't even finish them. And one of them had goat cheese... I'm still looking for it!! It's a real shame because they looked delicious on the menu. I definitely don't recommend them.

09/05/2026: We went for lunch at this restaurant, which we know well because we're from Châtenois. A truly excellent restaurant where we always eat very, very well. We called two hours before noon on a Saturday and got a reservation on the terrace without any problem. The dishes on the menu are divine! We each had the excellent pork cheeks. A good Burgundy wine to accompany our meal, and to finish, a very good dessert. A big plus for the professionalism of the waiter! And on top of that, he was very friendly! We'll be back!

02/05/2026: I've known this restaurant for almost half a century!!! My memory tells me it used to be so much better. It's lost its original charm; the owner in his beret and white apron gave the place a soul, the grilled food smelled amazing, and it was so appetizing!!! We ordered black pork, but once the fat was trimmed, there wasn't much left to eat. The potatoes were incredibly greasy!!! The country music should have been Nadau's... I won't be back in 50 years!!! 🤣

14/12/2025: Despite the excellent food, the service was lacking. We had to wait quite a while for our table, even though we had a reservation (overbooking, like on airplanes). I hope it will improve.

19/05/2026: I was worried this would be a stuffy dining experience and I was pleasantly surprised! The main dining room was homey with a gorgeous 1300’s fireplace. The service was jovial and non-judgmental. We didn’t order the duck but was got to watch it being prepared twice. What a treat! The food was phenomenal! It did take nearly 3 hours for the full four course service and it was worth the time and the $$. It’s soooo much more than ‘Julia Childs’ inspiration’.

31/01/2026: A friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. It's a bit hidden away, but what a wonderful discovery! It has a lovely, almost familial atmosphere. The staff are delightful, and the food is definitely worth the trip (everything is homemade). The swordfish gnocchi were absolutely divine. We'll be back!

17/04/2026: I came here with a friend and my husband and we really liked the Galettes. They were kind enough to prepare the Galettes du sarrasin sans oeufs specially for us My favourite was the dessert with orange marmalade, chocolate, chantilly and a sarrasin ice-cream! I would definitely come back to try others!
