24/05/2026: Yesterday, for European Museum Night, like many Bordeaux residents, we went to dinner in the city center, 60 meters from City Hall and 30 meters from the Cathedral, at the Bistrot-Café Français... and what a disappointment! The place aims for chic and refined decor inside, and the air conditioning was pleasant. However, the toilets were in a deplorable state of filth, from floor to bowl, and there was no toilet paper. Regarding the service, which was dynamic and efficient, I didn't appreciate the comment about us not ordering appetizers and going straight for the main course. But that's beside the point; the most disappointing aspect was the meager quantity and quality of the dishes. For four adults, we ordered three different salads and a burger. The Caesar salad consisted of nothing more than chicken on lettuce; the Ocean salad was acceptable; The meager Landes salad with a small, tasteless tomato cut into quarters, four flavorless slices of duck breast, and a piece of foie gras on two bland Hungarian-Bulgarian buns... And the overly greasy burger that the young adult didn't finish. The disappointment had nothing to do with the price but with the quantity, the quality of the food, and also the amateurish presentation. There must not have been a cook that day. However, I could see that the standard is steadily declining... from a warm bistro for locals, Le Café Français is becoming a tourist trap and a real rip-off! I miss the years 1991-1993 when I used to come and play pool in the back of the main room with my friends.

04/06/2026: You couldn't find a better location, right on the dock, just 10 meters from the ferry terminal! The hotel is renovated, and the rooms are a good size, clean, and modern.

26/05/2026: Beautiful hotel, facing the port, warm and friendly welcome, generous breakfast. The restaurant is also very good. Comfortable room and perfect location for exploring the island.

12/06/2026: I ordered a hamburger and fries with an extra hamburger, making sure to ask the waiter if it was real meat. "That's a stupid question," he said, "only our fries are frozen." I've never eaten such a disgusting steak. Tasteless, full of water and grease. And don't even try to tell me your awful steaks come from the butcher... it's impossible, they didn't even have the color of meat. They charged me €8.50 for this extra "kids' menu" 😂😂 In short, a good tourist trap, just the way we like them. It's always a pleasure to get ripped off during a road trip. "Bye," then...

30/05/2026: A cheese platter consisting of six pieces of cheese and where the bread is hard shouldn't be called a cheese platter, but the beer was okay.

13/05/2026: Very bad experience. I found the food bland, everything was poorly prepared, a very bad culinary experience, and on top of that, it was expensive.

11/05/2026: Sunday evening, the waiters shuffled listlessly around, the place was quiet. We only ordered one main course: filet de boeuf. The meat was very good, the vegetables completely overcooked, the potatoes still glassy. We skipped dessert and quickly left.

10/06/2026: Overall, it is excellent. Located in a prime spot with a great view of the Eiffel Tower, I highly recommend making a reservation to enjoy the terrace seats in particular. I can understand why the reviews are so divided. It seems there is a difference between when there is a staff member (perhaps the manager?) with excellent service spirit, manners, and kindness, and when there isn't. Thanks to your consideration, we had a wonderful time. The meal was also great. We had foie gras for appetizers, octopus and the fish of the day for the main course, and crème brûlée and choux for dessert; everything was soft and just right. The seasoning was slightly milder compared to other restaurants in Paris, but that made it even better. It was perfectly balanced, and the cooking was impeccable. The wine you recommended was also excellent. Thanks to you, we had a happy honeymoon. It was the best dinner ever♡

09/06/2026: The worst tourist trap in Paris. Honestly, I feel sorry for all the tourists who crowd in to visit this place, which is literally disgusting. The worst service in the Eiffel Tower area. They do not even bother pretending they are anything other than a tourist trap. The staff are bored and completely indifferent. The food is overpriced, and honestly, I do not believe it is prepared by a real chef. By far the rudest person is the guy at the entrance who later brings the bill. He treats customers like they are nobody. This restaurant is years behind the standards of most restaurants today. The waiter does not even know how to pour wine properly for a tasting. Ignoring customers and treating them poorly seems to be the entire business model of this tourist trap. We paid €200 for two beef steaks and a cheap bottle of wine. A complete rip-off. Do not be fooled by the Eiffel Tower view and the advertising. Do not be suckered into it. And the smell of the restaurant it s yeeeeeks ….. If you go there, you’ll leave smelling like a dead fish.

05/05/2026: The food, and especially the breakfasts, are amazing; I highly recommend the pancakes! The prices are also very reasonable. In addition to the warm atmosphere, the staff are lovely and always smiling. I highly recommend this bistro!
