17/01/2026: We visited Restaurant L'Essentie last night with our good friends and neighbours Francois and Valerie to belatedly celebrate the New Year. At the end of the festive season he might think one celebration too many, but Pauline and her husband who is the chef never disappoint and served up a truly fantastic dinner to start 2026. Salmon en croute with mushrooms and Cavalo Nero cooked with incredible imagination and to finish pears poached in red wine with cream and toasted hazelnuts fantastic. Definitely the best restaurant around, if you’re looking for a quiet intimate place to enjoy master cooking we’re friends and family.

15/03/2026: As a loyal customer, I stopped going there about ten years ago because the quality had declined significantly. In 2026, the quality has returned: - The sushi rice tastes good - The salmon-to-rice ratio is acceptable - The skewers are flavorful It still lacks a bit of variety compared to competitors who offer buffets, but the "passing plates" experience makes up for it. Friendly staff Covered parking nearby, and free street parking.

28/03/2026: It was listed as mid-range on the menu, but it said €25. I paid €30 because a drink wasn't included. I'm shocked, it's a rip-off! Don't order drinks there. The waiters stared at us and circled around us during our meal. It was an unpleasant experience.

19/03/2026: A warm welcome awaited me. I had a sore throat and asked for herbal tea with a little honey on the side, which they kindly agreed to. The caccio e pepe pasta was delicious. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this place. A very pleasant experience.

05/03/2026: I didn’t try the food so I can’t comment on the menu, but I did order a Whisky Sour — and it was genuinely one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly balanced, beautifully made, and incredibly smooth. In fact, it was so good I had to order a second. If the cocktails are anything to go by, this place clearly knows what it’s doing behind the bar. Definitely worth stopping in for a drink.
