14/08/2026: Frozen products, insufficient quantities, and prices far too high for what's offered. The cold buffet is varied, but nothing is homemade except the mayonnaise. Really not great. A shame, because the owner is friendly.

28/07/2026: The hotel is in an excellent location, just a short walk from Nice-Ville train station, making it very convenient for exploring the French Riviera. Tram connections are also within easy walking distance, and Bus 57 stops very close to the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants, cafés, fast-food outlets, and grocery stores nearby, which makes the stay even more convenient. The room was clean and well maintained. However, it was quite small, with limited space to move around, especially in the bathroom. The room also did not have a refrigerator or a kettle, which would have made the stay more comfortable. Breakfast was okish. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. It was a good choice for a short trip, especially because of its excellent location and easy access to public transportation.

03/08/2026: This unique and original restaurant certainly seems excellent, judging by previous reviews, the menu, and the photos. However, it's important to know that a minimum of six people is required to make a reservation, which effectively rules out romantic evenings. A shame.

13/07/2026: ⚠️ ILLEGAL AND UNACCEPTABLE PRACTICE – AVOID AT ALL COSTS We visited this bar on Sunday, July 12th at 11:50 AM. Upon entry, we received no information about any cover charge. It was only as we were leaving that two people at the cash register blocked our way, aggressively demanding payment of €35 per person for entry, in addition to the cost of our drinks. Even worse: faced with this dishonest practice, we demanded a receipt including VAT. The manager categorically refused to provide us with the legally required receipt (which is mandatory for purchases over €25), openly stating: "We don't pay VAT and we don't collect it." This complete lack of transparency, the intimidation of customers upon leaving, and the blatant tax fraud are intolerable. To the manager: We demand the immediate reimbursement of these undue and extorted sums, which were obtained without prior notice. If we do not receive any contact from you within 48 hours to resolve this dispute amicably, the complete reports (including our proof of bank debit) will be forwarded this week to the DGCCRF (SignalConso) for deceptive business practices and refusal to issue a receipt, as well as to the Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFIP) for proven VAT fraud. A word to the wise.

30/09/2026: They can't afford to make mistakes. A good retailer should accept that a customer might press the wrong button on their ordering system, but not at Castel. So I won't be going back. I see the rating isn't great, and apparently they're struggling to improve. Aside from saying "we're sorry," I would have preferred a gesture of goodwill, which I didn't receive during my visit.

28/09/2026: Dirty restaurant, disastrous terrace and unfortunately a place of passage as we are returning from a family weekend, so it's not the first time and always the same: dirty, outside, inside, the toilets I'll let you guess, slow service.

04/10/2026: My husband, my children, and I (four of us) came to our table, and what a disappointment! The bill was over €200. The waiter came to our table: There was no aperitif order, my husband wanted lobster (which was out of stock), five different white wines were out of stock, we ordered almonds (whelks were served instead), and we were charged for shrimp! I had to ask for more bread because it was stale. Our main courses were brought to us, and I had to get up to ask for cutlery. We ordered two coffees, the woman at the bar prepared them and left them there. It was a head waitress who pointed out to the waiter (the person serving our section) that the coffees should perhaps be sent out! My husband and I, being in the hospitality industry, were very disappointed. Therefore, I think a gesture of goodwill was appropriate, but nothing was done. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this establishment.

26/08/2026: Good hotel and restaurant, the food is good and the rooms are very nice, the hotel was recently renovated
