Friendly welcome from both the owner and the staff.
Good advice on food and wine selection.
Meals were taken on the terrace, quiet, shaded, and cool.
The dishes are tasty, delicate, well-prepared, and in acceptable portions.
We enjoyed an excellent homemade foie gras and Rossini beef fillet, and I opted for the daily special: peeled lobster on a bed of artichokes and strawberry sabayon, a delight.
A great place to remember.

29/09/2025: Ideally located for exploring Châtellerault, La Gourmandine Hotel is a haven of peace. It's a beautiful place to stay, peaceful and in a unique setting. A special mention goes to the breakfast. A small drawback: a kettle in the room would be welcome, either for early morning breakfasts or evening herbal teas.

The chef is incredibly friendly and it's easy to chat with him while he prepares your meal.
The service is quick and friendly!
Two big pluses: it's about 20 meters from the train station and there's an open kitchen, so you can smell all the spices and seasonings. It really whets your appetite, making the dish taste even better!
In short! It's good, it's fast, it's well located, and it's inexpensive. Go for it!

16/05/2026: A real charming dinner experience, the waiters succeed at making you feel welcome and right at home. A real highlight is the salmon risotto! It absolutely melts in your mouth. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting the neighbourhood.

The welcome is warm and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Just a 10-minute walk away, you'll find a lovely park with a discovery trail showcasing the region's trees: a wonderful opportunity for a stroll while learning something new!

13/05/2026: This is a wonderful small hotel in the heart of the walled city. We were cycling and needed a last minute place to stay overnight before a very early ferry the next morning. The proprietors were fantastic-accommodating us. Our bikes, and our very early departure. Highly recommended.
