19/10/2026: Well… I can't really tell you how it was because even though I booked during the day and received confirmation, I wasn't able to dine in the restaurant. The menu was outside, but the blind on the inside door was half-closed. And when I showed up in a room that was a complete mess, the woman first told me they hadn't seen my reservation, then that they had only planned to serve outside because it was nice weather in the morning (which wasn't the case by 8 pm), and finally that they couldn't serve dinner because the gentleman had put up details about renovations in the dining room, and despite the lights being on, the menu and tables were outside. Tip: Call ahead to check if you want to come. In any case, I won't be fooled twice!

24/03/2026: We had the pleasure of settling onto this small, elevated terrace in the middle of winter, with the sun shining brightly, which made the moment even more enjoyable. The terrace isn't very large, which gives the place an intimate, friendly, and particularly welcoming atmosphere; you immediately feel at ease. The service is truly top-notch. Special mention goes to Perrine: if you're lucky enough to be served by this charming young woman, your visit to Les Ancelles will be all the more enjoyable. Smiling, attentive, and professional, she clearly contributes to the quality of the experience. As for the food, we tried a salad, pasta, and a tart, and everything was delicious. The dishes are well-executed, flavorful, and generous, with simple yet expertly prepared cuisine, just the way we like it in the mountains. The cocktails are also excellent, so much so that we returned a second time at the end of the week to enjoy them again. And to end on a perfect note, we were offered a small pear before leaving, ideal for warming up before heading back out to ski. A truly wonderful place that we wholeheartedly recommend, both for its atmosphere and for the quality of the service and the food!

I ordered a snack with a double coffee, as I was just passing through and the bakery was closed on Mondays ("I've sold out, it's lunchtime service"). I had to ask for a glass of water a second time, going back to the counter in the sweltering heat at 11:30 am in August. And when I said, "I need a drink, I don't want to faint," the young waitress replied, "Oh, really?" without knowing my health or age. Given that they serve a single-course meal, today mushroom risotto, couldn't they have offered a slice of bread or a bunch of grapes to a new customer? I would have appreciated a little more attention, considering the waitress's observable social skills with regular customers. I should add that when I said I expected more attention, the owner singled me out, rallying the other diners and saying, "Madame says we're a bunch of 'CON...D' in Morières." When I replied that I hadn't said any of those words, he threatened me, saying, "I can give you a slice of bread otherwise." I asked him if that was a threat, and he said, "Get out, this is a private establishment." As I left, I heard mocking comments about me possibly feeling unwell and, "Walk in the shade."
