11/04/2026: There are restaurants that aim to impress, and others that prefer to convince. Clos Heurtebise undoubtedly belongs to the latter category, those establishments that rely neither on showmanship nor excessive theatricality on the plate, but on a concept rarer today: that of pure pleasure.
At a time when so many establishments confuse sophistication with culinary frenzy, this restaurant offers, with its €39 menu, a composition of controlled simplicity, almost soothing. Here, the meal is not experienced as a demonstration, but as a promise kept: that of a harmonious, accessible moment, refined enough to leave a lasting impression.
The choice of a Minuty served throughout the meal immediately sets the tone. This wine, with its now well-established reputation, unfolds its southern freshness with an almost sophisticated ease. It accompanies the meal like summer light prolongs a late afternoon: without jarring, without abruptness, with a charming fluidity that prevents lunch from becoming heavy and dinner from becoming rigid. One might criticize this choice for its classicism; one would prefer to see it as a form of intelligence. The Minuty reassures, flatters, links the courses of the meal, and gives the whole a pleasing continuity.
But it is at dessert time that the table perhaps best reveals its personality. Not a flamboyant ambition, but a desire to conclude with grace.
The white chocolate and strawberry mousse could have fallen into the trap of being overly demonstrative, almost childish. But it doesn't. White chocolate, a potentially dangerous ingredient, as it doesn't tolerate excess well, is tempered here by the presence of strawberry, which brings depth, freshness, and an added touch of vibrancy. The result is a dessert that is sweet without being heavy, caressing without being bland, where the creamy richness finds a particularly pleasing fruity echo. It's a seductive finale.
The kiwi dessert, on the other hand, takes a completely different approach. More direct, more vibrant, almost more edgy, it awakens the palate where the other dessert had enveloped it. The kiwi, with its crisp acidity and almost sharp aroma, provides a more lively, more vertical conclusion. It's the dessert of rejuvenation, the one that cleanses the palate and leaves a lasting impression of controlled freshness.
What is so appealing at Clos Heurtebise, then, is not spectacular audacity. At 39 euros, this achievement deserves praise. Because in this price range, the slightest misstep is costly. A well-chosen wine, desserts that skillfully balance sweetness and freshness, an overall impression of poise: this is a language more precious than it seems.
Clos Heurtebise doesn't dazzle: it satisfies. And in a landscape saturated with restaurants that try too hard, this restraint, almost this wisdom, ultimately becomes a mark of distinction.
The critic's verdict: a restaurant of understated charm, where pleasure triumphs over showmanship, where the Minuty wine complements the meal with finesse, and where the desserts, ranging from the delicate sweetness of white chocolate and strawberry to the vibrant kiwi, offer a fitting, refreshing, and elegant conclusion. An establishment that doesn't seek to outshine the others, but which knows how to discreetly leave a lasting impression.

The dishes are beautifully presented, delicious, and of high quality. The service is quick.
I highly recommend this establishment. A little tip: be sure to make a reservation, as the restaurant is very popular.

05/03/2026: An interesting experience at a traditional Lyonnais bistro that didn't serve what is precisely the hallmark of such a dish: a simple Lyonnaise salad.
I regret that the waitstaff didn't even have the presence of mind, or the desire to please a customer, to ask the kitchen if it was possible. Perhaps it would have been too much of a challenge to gather these simple ingredients (each of which is on the menu) to try and adhere to what defines our culinary traditions and, let's face it, our pride.
As a native of Lyon, I had to settle for half a Saint-Marcellin cheese, which was very good nonetheless.
In short, aiming to be a high-end bistro is all well and good; remembering your roots is even better. If we need reminding, Le Petit Paumé (another Lyonnais institution) provides a fine definition of what we have the right to expect from a traditional Lyonnais bistro.

09/04/2026: A soft drink was served from an open bottle, without ice or a slice of lemon. I asked for ice at the register because you have to order at the counter, and the server commented that the drink was already cold... Unbelievable! The drink cost me €3 without even a greeting. It's up to you whether you support this kind of business; apparently, it's common practice, according to my friend who lives nearby.

10/04/2026: A truly unacceptable experience.
There were four of us, and we waited for over an hour without anyone even offering us a drink. Meanwhile, customers who arrived after us—clearly regulars—were served first. The message is clear: if you're not from around here, keep walking.
When we were finally served, we were disappointed once again: tiny portions (we left hungry), incorrect side dishes (celery puree instead of potato gratin), and overall very questionable quality considering the prices.
But the worst part was the welcome: the owner was particularly unpleasant, with a disdainful attitude. Endless wait, inconsistent service, disappointing food, and a hefty bill… it's hard to imagine anything worse.
Avoid at all costs.

13/04/2026: When you follow in the footsteps of "Il Conte," the least you can do is live up to expectations.
But I'm sorry, but this is a complete failure. The service, the quality of the food, and everything else are equally disappointing.
To think that "Il Conte" was my favorite dairy restaurant, well, I can tell you now, "Maestro," I'll never set foot in that place again. What a shame.

19/05/2026: The food was amazing, easily one of the best (if not the best) kebab we've ever eaten. The man that prepared everything was very attentive. It was nearly closing hours (23:30) and we were in the middle of a road trip and he saved us from starving, I was very very happy to pay, it was very much worth it.
The bathroom was very clean too!
10/10 I wish I lived near enough so that it could be my frequent kebab.

02/05/2026: I politely asked for a kebab with a not-too-industrial sauce... well, awkward moment: no homemade sauce like a white sauce, his French is poor, and he puts fries in the sandwiches... it's even more expensive than the competition, a far cry from the original Annabi.
And to top it off, he completely ignored me mid-order as soon as a regular customer arrived... in short, I don't recommend it!

We always come here for our all-you-can-eat mussels when we're in Cap d'Agde; the mussels are exquisite with Roquefort, Maroilles, and many other sauces. The service is superb, and the terrace overlooking the main square is very pleasant. I highly recommend it, and we'll be back on our next visit. Thanks again to the always very welcoming team.
