07/10/2026: AMAZING KEBAB, SO GOOD! (And the people are so nice!)

02/09/2026: An excellent place! I'd been hearing about it for months from a family member (Var***), and the reputation is well-deserved. The restaurant is very clean, the portions are generous, and it's a real treat. The price is a bit higher than average, but the quality more than justifies it. Now it's my turn to give it a little publicity: I highly recommend it!

14/10/2026: Three sips, and all that's left is crushed ice. €13 a glass. At that price, you expect to at least enjoy your cocktail. Either the price is too high, or there's too much ice: one of the two needs to be addressed. You can't ask customers to pay top dollar for so little to drink. And then you shouldn't complain that times are tough and customers are staying away from outdoor patios. Making people want to come back starts with the feeling that they're getting their money's worth. Being ripped off once is enough.

05/10/2026: Clearly my favorite bar in Lyon for the past two years. So many memories at this bar, the welcome is always so warm. The bartenders are always lovely, they recognize us and are so accommodating when we need more space on the terrace. I've celebrated two birthdays there, and even though they can't take reservations, they always do their best to make us feel comfortable and offer us free shots whenever they can. In short, Viktor is the place to be, and thanks to Léo and Julien who liven up our evenings every time! 🫰🏻🫰🏻🫰🏻

12/09/2026: Two years later, we went back to eat again to see if there had been any improvements to the food and decor. We arrived at 12:30 pm, and the owner thought it was 11:00 am. Plus, half the dishes were out, so we had no choice, and what little was left wasn't fresh. I just hope we don't get sick. I even got the impression we were bothering him; he was taking a beer break 🤪. Anyway, the restaurant was empty. Oh, and we did have quite a few aggressive customers (the flies were huge) 🤣. There's been no improvement in the food. I don't recommend the coffee; the cups weren't washed, and the decor looks like it's been stuck in the past. The atmosphere was very depressing 😥. I almost got depressed. In the end, it was a sad representation of Portugal, especially for someone of Portuguese descent. It's clear we won't be going back a third time. Before leaving, I gave the address of a painter, but there are so many things that need fixing. The only modern thing is the Dyson hand dryer.

10/09/2026: My review concerns only one dish: the mussels marinière. By far the worst mussels I've ever eaten... There was a sort of slimy residue oozing from them, and they were poorly cooked. Half of them were closed. The marinière sauce was practically nonexistent, just water and an onion. I couldn't taste the wine at all. As a side dish, there was a tiny portion of fries and a bit of bread (which was the only good thing, it must be said). In short, you finish the meal feeling completely unsatisfied. As for the setting, the view of the port is pleasant from the outside. But inside, everything looks dirty, and the hygiene in the kitchen seems more than questionable, judging by what you can see through the open door...

07/09/2026: September 5, 2026. The parsley liver tempted me for lunch. Especially since it had been highly praised on the Gambrinus page. But the community fair drew a huge crowd, and the servers were overwhelmed. They were also stressed, which always negatively impacts the already subpar service. Today, however, the liver was far too overcooked. I looked for the Provençal tomato on my plate but couldn't find it. The potatoes were good, but they lacked salt. I waited 20 minutes for my half-pint of beer. But the liver was simply disgusting! The crowds are no excuse. I often go to this establishment. The welcome is always warm, and the service is (generally) quick (one day I waited inside for 15 minutes and they didn't ask me anything, but I consider that exceptional). The servers are friendly and efficient. The terrace is very well shaded and you feel removed from the traffic, which is very pleasant. Bonus: it's open on Sundays. In fact, I'm going there right now, on my electric scooter, to have a coffee or two. Have a good day and see you soon at Gambrinus.

20/08/2026: The duck breast arrived completely grey when I ordered it pink, the Aubrac beef skewer was blue on one side and as hard as concrete on the other, the tuna was still frozen inside, and of course, the fries were frozen. Luckily, the waiter was nice. They didn't even offer a carafe of red wine.

04/06/2026: I came on the evening of June 4th and received a very warm welcome. The atmosphere in the dining room is much more pleasant. The dishes I ordered arrived quickly. Thank you to the waitress for her smiles and good humor, including to her colleagues. ✅ From a culinary perspective, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience; the dishes were excellent, and I highly recommend it. ✅ Looking forward to returning, thank you!

23/10/2026: We felt judged and rejected for no good reason. The attitude towards us was so shocking that it even led us to question whether it was discriminatory. No one should have to endure such disrespect in an establishment open to the public. We left deeply indignant about this experience. A minimum of politeness, consideration, and respect towards customers should be a given. A deplorable experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone.
