23/01/2026: I stopped by Hendaye on my layover on my way from Paris to San Sebastian. There's a wine shop at the front of the entrance and a wine bar at the back. They have a wide selection of wines by the glass, as well as beer and liqueurs. They also have a wide selection of tapas. The portions might be a little too much for one person. There didn't seem to be an English menu, but the staff were happy to assist me in English. They were very friendly and I felt at home.😊

19/03/2026: Unfriendly. Arrived at 12:00 PM and still hadn't been served by 1:30 PM. When ordering a meal, there was no menu available, and the owner was very unpleasant. I've never seen such a disagreeable manager. I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant.

24/06/2026: I arrived first, waited at the bar, and two people went ahead of me. At the tobacco shop right next to me, she served the two people before me, which is normal; generally, it's first come, first served, which is logical. I find it disrespectful.

10/06/2026: Very early in the morning you are greeted with a smile by the owner who even offers you a coffee; the small village grocery store is just the kind you find in these beautiful country villages.

05/07/2026: A very, very good experience. The sandwiches were served hot, the fries were excellent, the restaurant was spotless, and the service was very pleasant. A clean environment; I recommend this place for a meal alone, with friends, or with family—very friendly.

10/07/2026: Typical tourist trap on the seafront. The tables were packed in tightly and the food is disappointing. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The kids had pizzas, but the bases were floury and flat, as though the dough hadn't been left to prove properly. The cheese tasted cheap and processed. The biggest disappointment was the cod and seafood. The cod itself was cooked well, but it was served with linguine in a bland cream sauce that lacked any flavour. The scallops were equally disappointing cooked acceptably but completely bland, lost in the same beige, creamy sauce with no seasoning or character. Overall, friendly staff couldn't make up for below-average food. There are much better places to eat nearby.

30/06/2026: Good, varied dishes at a reasonable price

17/03/2026: Average. Okay if you have a very large appetite, otherwise it's a waste. The mussel casserole as a starter is served in a very full soup bowl, far too much. Overall, it lacks seasoning and flavor. On the other hand, the plates are nicely presented. The atmosphere is cold, and you can hear the owner reprimanding the waitress, which is awkward.

01/05/2026: We discovered Da Mare thanks to Lucie. We had a wonderful time. From the appetizer to the dessert, everything was delicious. The setting is exceptional, and the staff is very attentive. We will gladly return. Cécile and Dominique 😁
