16/01/2025: Superb welcome, kindness, smile and joviality, we had not reserved but we were found a table after a mess of reservations. Warm setting and great decor (I loved the school map of France for growing fruit and vegetables and the nod to drops..). 2 menus of the day: Burgundian beef cheek, that’s a good thing we come from this region 😂
Excellent and hearty dish, super tender meat accompanied by a pot of seasonal vegetables, the Brussels sprouts are killer.
Following a slight misunderstanding, we are proud to have saved a pinpin from the rissoto of the starter which seemed succulent, no regrets the dish being copious, the vanilla ice cream accompanied by pears was a source of good digestion.
Washing it down with a good beer, we spread out with our stomachs full and more than satisfied.

30/06/2025: We ate lunch here on a six day cycle tour of Cherbourg peninsula.
Best lunch spot of the trip. Great, limited menu covering all the bases. Home cooked food with a real rural French feel.
We would DEFINITELY include this stop if we pass again. Either for lunch, dinner or an overnight stop. We did not see the rooms. Suspect charming and clean if anything like the restaurant.

21/06/2025: Great family hotel 100m from the abbey. Excellent welcome, very clean room, very good restaurant for a moderate price. The owner is very attentive to ensure a very pleasant stay. Highly recommended.

24/08/2024: Parfait pour bien manger… mais les prix qui augmentent constamment ? Quand est-ce qu’on y verra la fin et l’immobilisation du prix final, résumé en 4 ans le prix passe de 10€ (le menu) à 13€ (pour le plat seulement) (concernant le katsu) et je parle même pas sur Uber eats ou Deliveroo vous pouvez rajouter 3€ de plus, bref a part ça la viande très bonne la sauce curry excellente et la portion est généreuse mais s’il vous plait pour garder vos clients les plus fidèle garder un prix fixe merci et bonne continuation.

A deux pas du chateau du grand jardin en longeant le canal.
Je recommande.

24/05/2024: Pleasantly surprised. A great discovery. The welcome and the service at the top. The cuisine is a pure delight, generous and homemade.
22/05/2024: I was able to order a mitch menu to take away from this fast food restaurant. Prices are reasonable.
The Burger was really very good and substantial.
The fries were crispy and very good, as was the tartar sauce.
The staff is very friendly.
I recommend this restaurant and would definitely return there as soon as I get the chance.

23/07/2024: And summer too! We knew winter but not yet summer. Apart from the snow, the big difference is the calm!
To get up there, it's worth it but access via the Casse du Boeuf chairlift is possible and it becomes easier. Then in less than 15 minutes of descent we arrive at Echaillon. Great welcome, games for children, pétanque, darts... You can spend the afternoon there!
For the meal, the salads are superb but we decided to go with 2 magnificent beef ribs. Bravo for the sauces which accompany wonderfully.
We will come back!
18/07/2024: Everything was perfect during our visit on July 17, 2024. The splendid view, the spaced terrace tables, the wine list, the barbecue grills - we hadn't eaten such a good duck breast for a while - the games that kept our children busy (bouncy castle, swing, trampoline), ultra-attentive service. The prices were really reasonable for a mountain restaurant. Thank you again for taking pity on us and bringing my tired mother back to the Casse du Boeuf. Children will remember this jeep ride for a long time. We will definitely come back in winter and hope that the prime rib will still be on the menu.

02/08/2024: The only neighborhood bistro on Avenue Jean-Janvier, where you can work, eat, have an aperitif, and share major events. It's like home! We are welcomed with big smiles and hellos from the regulars.
Laurence, the owner of the place, and Tiphaine are welcoming and give good advice.
