03/09/2026: We thoroughly enjoyed the Berchat bar. There's a traditional set menu with soup as a starter, followed by veal paupiette with vegetables, a cheese platter, and cherry clafoutis for dessert. Everything is homemade using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The welcome is excellent, with the owner cooking even though her husband is bedridden after an operation.

03/08/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Once again, I wasn't disappointed. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. The food is excellent, with good quality ingredients and dishes. The dining room is spacious, pleasant, and very clean. I had a great time and would gladly return. Highly recommended!

20/06/2026: The manager (owner) is a tall, thin man who is very unwelcoming to customers, especially those with children. On two occasions, he scolded my children who were playing in the play area. On my last visit, when he started, I called him over and asked him to speak directly to the parent instead of scolding the children. He replied, "I'm surprised to see you here again, since last time your children were shouting while playing." That made my throat ache. I paid but didn't eat at all. The way he treated me in front of everyone was so rude. Afterwards, I suspect he might be racist and dislike Black people. Never again will I go to this restaurant.

07/07/2026: Best café/restaurant in La Rochelle, for its atmosphere, generous portions, and the kindness of the owners. A simple place where it's great to meet up.

30/05/2026: Very welcoming, as usual. This late afternoon, my husband wanted a cheese pizza, and they kindly offered to make it for us while we went shopping. Very friendly and very good!

19/09/2026: A bakery right near me is a welcome change from other bakeries where the service is seriously lacking, especially on Rue Lecourbe. I've rarely experienced such a friendly welcome as at this Félix bakery; all the staff are lovely and smiling, and of course, the products are very good. The only problem is that, due to their popularity, the wait to be served can be long. Otherwise, it's fantastic!

14/09/2026: I regularly visit this bakery to buy croissants and pain au chocolat of very high quality; the taste and texture are remarkable. I've also had a perfect ham and butter sandwich there on occasion. The quality of their brioche and traditional baguette is also worth noting.

27/09/2026: Simply put, the building's general state of disrepair is largely compensated for by the setting and the friendliness and efficiency of the staff.

12/08/2026: Not happy, in the future I'll announce my summer vacation dates on Google. It's great to arrive to find the door locked.

11/08/2026: Very disappointed with the salmon and avocado tartare. Barely 80 grams of salmon, a tiny portion, and barely 80 grams of fries. The profiteroles had hardly any whipped cream, because they were out. Unbelievable that they didn't have a can of whipped cream on hand. The dining room was extremely hot. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

15/09/2026: Too much oil in the food otherwise good

09/09/2026: I used to love Le Mahal, and my go-to dishes were palak paneer and chicken karahi. Sadly, as of late the quality has gone down, and most recently the palak paneer was extremely oily, even more so than usual. For the first time I couldn't finish my meal. Here's to hoping they make a comeback.

13/07/2026: The location is good, but they don't pay their customers properly for PMU winnings; I was scammed out of about 6 euros. I was paid 13.60 euros instead of 20.20 euros. They claim the machine never makes a mistake, but it's clearly theft. Furthermore, they removed my table while I was making a purchase at the counter.

22/06/2026: I asked for a glass of water during the Fête de la Musique because I wasn't feeling well, and they told me it was €20 and tried to take advantage of me by asking €2 for a glass of water. Normally, all bars give a free glass of water, especially to people who aren't feeling well. Luckily, a kind lady gave me her bottle.

11/09/2026: A wonderful discovery last night. The meal was excellent, the cod was melt-in-your-mouth tender… the atmosphere was pleasant, and the waitress was attentive and very friendly. Don't hesitate to spend a pleasant evening there.

27/08/2026: The service was truly disappointing, both in the dining room and the kitchen. Depending on the dish chosen, you'll either be pleased or disappointed. Prices are excessive.

19/07/2026: Keep walking!! 12:45 PM Empty terrace. Distant and "smug" welcome. Upon arrival, I was told that only pizzas would be available, nothing else from the menu. I asked for a table for six on the terrace to enjoy the lovely setting. I was told it wasn't possible, probably too difficult to set up a table outside. Clearly, customers are a nuisance here. Do as I did, run away!!

11/07/2026: Hello, I highly recommend this restaurant. I have to say, the atmosphere is superb. Especially the waiter, Jérôme. I was there last night, and honestly, we had a great time and a good laugh. A real treat. Seriously, you have to go. Say hi to Jérôme and keep being the way you are. I personally love you.

03/10/2026: Avoid this place except to use the restroom... It's Pride Day, you've known that for a long time. You're here, deal with it. Every human being has basic, normal needs. Organize yourselves and be human! Because it's humans who come here to use the facilities.

07/10/2026: I stopped by for tea; they have a lovely selection of quality teas. The welcome was so warm, as was the interior layout. I sat upstairs, and I highly recommend this friendly space.
