31/07/2026: I've been cycling for 10 years and I always stop at bars to politely ask if they can refill my water bottles when I run out. They charged me for a liter of water, and to top it all off, they were awful. If you want a drink, feel free to go 20 meters further to the bar by the castle; it's much nicer.

31/07/2026: Avoid this place. How can anyone be so unpleasant, disrespectful, rude, and malicious in a business setting? People of Asian descent are usually welcoming, kind, and respectful. Here, money comes first. They refused to give a young man, who had just cycled 130 km in 35-degree heat, a water bottle. There's another, much nicer bar 200 meters away. A polite way to describe this place: run for the hills! Can I give a NEGATIVE rating?

12/12/2025: Friday, December 12, 2025 at 5:55 PM The cashier who served me displayed a complete lack of professionalism and respect. After asking if my order was for takeout (to which I replied yes), she placed my chocolate éclair in a simple bag before carelessly tossing it next to the register. The product was crushed inside. When I politely asked for it to be placed in a box as it should have been, not only did I receive no apology, but the cashier started muttering and complaining while preparing the box. This attitude is unacceptable for an establishment like Paul. I am very disappointed with this experience and, as things stand, I have no desire to return to this location.

23/10/2025: Very disappointed. Beyond the fact that it's expensive, you still have to pay the extra-expensive supplements for butter and jam, and because we eat too. Last time for us at Paul Thionville Leclerc.

13/02/2026: Poor quality food, the fries were burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside, there was no sauce in the taco, and it was full of water, probably due to the ingredients being frozen. Very poor quality, avoid at all costs

07/11/2025: To begin with, the welcome was unpleasant. There was no one at the counter to take my order; they seemed to prefer smoking outside the establishment. Once my order was taken (without washing their hands), I noticed that everything had been left out in the open. Furthermore, the furniture was also dirty, the fries reeked of oil that had been sitting in the fryer for 15 days, and a three-meat taco had no fries inside, but the grease was still there. A price that seemed reasonable suddenly became less so.

18/06/2026: The welcome at this bar/tobacconist was very disappointing. No greeting upon arrival, virtually no interaction, and a very unpleasant overall impression. They clearly lacked customer service skills. A very unpleasant experience; I do not recommend this establishment.

02/05/2026: Well... The service was a complete disaster... The owner always makes you feel like you're bothering her... It really doesn't make you want to go back... Honestly, this so-called business is one to avoid...

05/07/2026: Very poor service. Pizzas prepared in advance and then reheated. A decent alternative to processed food, but comforting after midnight.

29/06/2026: Terrible service. The waiters were extremely rude and impolite! One waiter violently shoved a customer (a gentleman) and yelled at him, "Get out of the way, young man!" simply because he was in his path. Not recommended. They even charged a pregnant tourist for using the restroom!

10/05/2026: When the best things about dinner are the owner's German skills and the bottle of mineral water. Unbelievable. The steak was tough, the perch a few slivers of something, and the salad was definitely fresher a week ago. Next time, read the reviews beforehand. I'll have a shot of schnapps afterward, since I don't know if the kitchen is cleaner than the toilets 🫣

09/05/2026: Dinner on the terrace. Before we sat down, the person who greeted us (the restaurant manager) assured us that the terrace was non-smoking. However, he took the liberty of smoking several cigarettes on the terrace while we were seated. To make matters worse, his assistant was doing the same. Royal omelet, salad, and fries (€13.50). The fries weren't properly cooked. Sea bream fillet with Provençal sauce and ratatouille (€15.90). The ratatouille was definitely canned. The sea bream fillet was small and overcooked. No bread was served with the meal. We asked for a carafe of water, which never arrived. Only the coffee was very good. The very few customers that evening should have been a warning sign.

12/05/2026: I come here regularly for convenience. It's a shame the staff are so unpleasant. Never a hello. The person asked me three times if it was for eating in, even though I'd already said it was takeaway when I got to the till, and then I had to repeat myself several times. Clearly, she wasn't listening since she was on her phone.

11/03/2026: Wow!!! What a terrible cashier!! I'm a regional manager in retail, and my god, her attitude would warrant immediate disciplinary action. No greeting when I arrived at the checkout, and to top it off, she was on her phone, talking, didn't put it down while I ordered, continued her conversation with the phone to her ear while she made my coffee, and handed it to me without a second thought. Of course, when I said goodbye, she was still on the phone. There was no one at the register at 5:20 PM when I went through! A complete disaster! Help!! It's so difficult to find staff these days, but if someone behaves like that, she should go to the stockroom to restock or something... not to customer service.

19/05/2026: Extremely unpleasant, especially the girl at reception. Frankly, I don't even understand what she's doing there given her behavior.

10/05/2026: Just about adequate for one night, if you ignore the stains on the bedding, the door that doesn't close properly, and the wobbly sink tap.

22/06/2026: Unfriendly owner, poor quality food, avoid at all costs. The worst bar in Caen.

26/07/2026: I don't recommend it, mediocre food and high prices for the quality.

26/07/2026: Tourist trap; no outdoor seating available for lunch. The food is several days old and microwaved. The waitress/cook wasn't very friendly. Avoid it for a meal, or only for a glass of wine—there are plenty of other options.

16/05/2026: We received a very warm welcome, and the food was delicious. The kefta sandwich was excellent; we highly recommend it. Not to mention the Belgian-style double-cooked fries, which were perfectly cooked and not too greasy. Fantastic! 10/10

27/03/2026: €22 for a standard size pizza (32 cm) Even if the pizzeria calls it large… It’s a disgrace, they need to be reminded that pizza is where the biggest profit margin is!
