21/07/2026: I was served the starter and then the main course immediately, without even having time to finish the starter. Before the main course arrived, I had to ask for salt, then pepper, and on top of that, I hadn't even finished my meal when they came to ask me to pay, four times insistently. The service is terrible! I took the time to spend 10 minutes filling out the loyalty card to please the waiter, and he was ungrateful and pushy. I wanted a dessert and a coffee, but nothing. It's awful. To say the least.

21/07/2026: The decor now looks quite dated, and the entire restaurant gives an impression of neglect. The carpeting on some walls and the floor visibly retains odors accumulated over the years, creating an unpleasant atmosphere. The staff is very friendly but clearly lacks professional training. The tapas served as appetizers arrived at the same time as the main courses. The waiter couldn't open the bottle of wine, and we ended up having to do it ourselves. The plates were very hot, so they were brought on a tray, and then the waiter asked us to take them ourselves to avoid getting burned. The overall quality of the food was acceptable, but many details were overlooked. The baked potato was served without sour cream and was therefore particularly dry. The sauce was brought after we asked for it. The tapas seem to be essentially fried, mass-produced items, served without any real presentation in a simple basket. The dishes also lacked care, decoration, and presentation. The overall impression is rather impersonal and lacks ambition. This is a shame, because it's a well-known and proven concept, but one that now seems to be gradually declining. With better maintenance of the restaurant, more staff training, and greater attention to detail, the establishment could regain a significantly higher level of quality.

28/06/2026: Never, ever will I forget the first time I walked into this place. I ate what I now consider the best kebab in Chalon-sur-Saône, by far! First of all, the chef is one of the greatest kebab masters I've ever encountered in my life as a sandwich connoisseur. The way he arranges each ingredient in the bread is reminiscent of the best of Alfred de Musset... Moreover, he's incredibly generous; he doesn't hesitate to offer a small gift to the hungriest customers (myself included, of course). But that's not all! I haven't even mentioned the meal itself. For my part, I chose (and I still choose every time) the kebab sandwich, with all the raw vegetables and the white sauce. Here's my taste test report: - The meat: flavorful, perfectly cooked, absolutely flawless. - The raw vegetables: salad, tomato, onions. They're incredibly fresh, but that's not all... You can also enjoy pickled red cabbage among the raw vegetables, adding a new, tangy dimension to the sandwich. - The white sauce: simply exquisite. It's homemade and features sprigs of dill, making it one of the most legendary sauces in Chalon-sur-Saône. Finally, the arrangement of each ingredient is meticulously planned to make every bite a PERFECT one, all for a very reasonable price (€8). As you can see, NewWannaFood is a must-try in Chalon, a place you absolutely have to visit at least once in your life.

26/06/2026: I went in the day before and paid €16.50 for two set menus. The next day I went back. And the owner had the nerve to ask me for the missing money! It's not my fault, it's his! I'm a shopkeeper, and when it's you who makes a mistake at the till, it's not the customer's responsibility to pay. Avoid this place!

07/07/2026: It's good, but smaller than before and expensive for what it is. €3 for a cabbage...outrageous!

03/07/2026: A rather mixed experience, as I found the cream puffs quite dry. I think they'd been sitting in the display case for several days, maybe even a week. They were extremely dry, but the cream fillings inside were smooth. I still tried to salvage them.

24/07/2026: We had lunch at the Royalty and had a wonderful time. The mussels and fries were excellent, perfectly cooked and generously portioned. The dessert was more than ample, a real treat for those with a sweet tooth! The service was pleasant and the welcome warm. The only slight drawback was the wait between courses, which was a little long. However, this won't stop us from returning, as the quality of the food is well worth the wait. A very good restaurant that we happily recommend!

21/07/2026: A wonderful discovery! We were tempted by the breaded egg as a starter, which was delicious and beautifully presented. The rest of the dishes were also very good. The service was also excellent, with the chef circulating among the tables. I highly recommend it.

18/07/2026: Delicious food. I had fish and chips, Dad chose steak. For starters, we chose a tapas platter. Slightly too few fries with the fish and chips, but we certainly ate enough.

08/07/2026: We discovered Le Contemporain thanks to a deal on TheFork, and what a wonderful find it was! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the setting. The dining room is beautifully decorated, with harmonious color schemes and particularly pleasant lighting. The view of the kitchen garden, the restaurant's veritable larder, adds to its charm. The limited number of tables, perfectly spaced, allows for a calm, intimate, and refined atmosphere. The cuisine was flawless. From the amuse-bouche to dessert, each dish was a true delight. The flavors were perfectly balanced, the ingredients showcased with great skill. The cuisine elevates seemingly simple dishes thanks to remarkable expertise. The welcome and service were equally impeccable: attentive, professional, and warm. As for the wine list, it offers excellent choices that perfectly complement the meal. In short, we had a wonderful evening in an establishment that more than deserves its reputation. An address that we recommend without hesitation and where we will gladly return.
