14/03/2026: Part of Paris since the 1940s Chez Paul blends in with the local streets so seamlessly that most will walk by without notice, but since coming under ownership of the Karrenbauer family in 1998 the space at 13 Rue de Charonne has continued a proud tradition begun by Mr. and Mrs. Paul. Small but comfortable thanks to red leather banquetes, a tiled floor beneath brass ceilings and walls full of art, it is from a paper ledger that reservations are confirmed prior to seating at wood tables that require being slid aside to gain access. A locals sort of place, though the menu does offer English translations, fans of Bistro fare will find all the staples complimented by daily specials while the Wine list runs long yet quite affordable. Well-suited to families, especially on Sundays when so few Parisian Restaurants are open all day, starters come in the form of Escargot or French Onion Soup plus sizable slabs of Foie Gras and the chunky sort of housemade Terrine one rarely encounters outside of France. Far more affordable than tourist favorites, its place in the 11th undoubtedly part of the reason, main plates see Confit Duck done well without any fuss while Pepper Steak and Sweetbreads in reduced Soy are generous in terms of portion and flavor. Not a spot to skip Dessert, all but Ice Cream made on site, Chez Paul’s Baba is denser than Ducasse’s but no less delicious while the Œufs à la neige and Tarte Tatin are each classics prepared the right way.

14/03/2026: A wonderful discovery! Bone marrow, leeks vinaigrette (so good and rare!), onion soup with Morbier cheese, etc. For main courses, I recommend the duck breast with morello cherries; it's truly a must-try. The vegetables were excellent, except for a wilted side salad—I didn't understand why. Otherwise, there's the steak poivre flambéed with cognac, served with a delicious gratin on a separate plate (like my wilted salad). The desserts were good, but I wouldn't recommend the floating island; the custard was thick and too sweet. The atmosphere is authentic; it's like stepping back in time. However, expect to pay around €70 per person. It's definitely worth it, but not an everyday experience.

30/08/2026: Very disappointing, especially for regular customers. We've been to this restaurant several times and had never had a problem until now. This time, a misunderstanding started with a simple joke, which the owner clearly didn't understand. We explained to him clearly that we were joking and that our comment wasn't meant to be malicious. Despite our explanations, instead of moving on, he kept pushing the issue, unnecessarily escalating the situation, even resorting to insulting language. We can understand that a joke might not be appreciated, but when customers explain that they were just joking, the least one can do is let it go and remain calm. As regular customers, we are particularly disappointed by this attitude. Respect should be a two-way street. For our part, this experience has definitively changed our opinion of this establishment, and we will not be returning.

23/08/2026: We had a wonderful evening at this restaurant! The sea bass was simply delicious, perfectly complemented by the other dishes. The staff is very professional, attentive, and genuinely kind. The setting is cozy, clean, and spotless. An excellent experience from start to finish; we will gladly return!

18/08/2026: As a regular customer, I placed an order this evening totaling over €200 to celebrate my 94-year-old mother's return with friends. The order was placed at 12:30 PM for 7:30 PM delivery... and it arrived an hour and 25 minutes late! Two coleslaws and one chocolate ganache moschi (€5.20 each) were missing from the order. The few sushi items added as a gesture of goodwill did nothing to compensate for my mother's exhaustion or the half-evening wasted waiting. I find the missing items, in addition to the interminable wait, quite unacceptable. I hope this will be noted on my customer file and that the missing items will at least be included with my next order.

15/04/2026: A truly beautiful and unique place! A very warm welcome, superb rooms with a lovely view! Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to try the restaurant! So, to add to my review from October, the welcome is still as warm and friendly as ever, the place is still as pleasant, but what more can I say about the meal I was just served than that it was one of my most memorable culinary experiences!

29/03/2026: Excellent cuisine served in a magnificent setting with a beautiful view of the Montagne Noire and the Pyrenees, in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. We highly recommend it.
